I checked the weather for Obama's big speech Thursday - scattered thunderstorms
I went to weather.com and checked the 10 day forecast for Denver on next Thursday and it doesn't look great. It said scattered thunderstorms.

I suggest we start a counter prayer against the Focus on the Family types and pray for sun and for the rain to be delayed until 11:00 p.m. on Thursday.

1. Maybe if we get into good graces with Pat Robertson, he'll steer the storms away from Denver.

3. You do realize, that weather forecasting is a scam?
Especially when trying to predict what will happen over a week away.

7. Yes.
We finally did get some rain last week. There's no point in even paying attention to weather forecasts until a day or two before. It changes just way too much here, and the mountains impact everything.

6. I really don't think weather reports are very reliable. At best, it can predict 2 or 3 days away.

8. Depends on which site you check. AccuWeather is predicting sunny and 94.
Or at least that's what they were predicting yesterday for the 28th -- haven't checked yet today.

Weather.com and Intellicast (which seems to have the same forecast as Weather.com) are predicting scattered thunderstorms. And the Rocky Mountain News quoted a National Weather Service meteorologist yesterday saying it's too early to tell what will happen the 28th, and their forecast models are "all over the place."

The one thing the forecasts agree on are that highs will be in the mid-80s to lower 90s, and lows will be around 60, and the first three days of the convention should be fair weather. Thursday is iffy, but it's way too early to tell what will really happen.

Our area is just too changeable. Next week is too far in advance to predict with any certainty.

10. Forecasting thunderstorms is a tricky problem....
...for anything more than two days out. For the most part, the forecast is a general prediction which carries a percentage probability over a forecast area. Thus on Tuesday, the National Weather Service (The only weather service anyone should trust. Where do you think all the dot-commies get their information from?) is forecasting the following:

"Tuesday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a high near 91."

Use this link to keep track of Denver:
