Well, if Biden's good enough for Gerldine...

Ferraro: Biden has what Obama lacks
Posted August 20, 2008 9:15 AM
The Swamp

by Mark Silva

Never mind Joe Biden's suggestion that he isn't "the guy'' likely to make Barack Obama's presidential ticket.

Geraldine Ferraro, who's been there before, said today that she got the call from Walter Mondale to serve as his running mate in 1984 - the first woman nominated on a major party's presidential ticket - the day before the announcement. And she had to tell a little white lie when asked about it that day.

Ferraro said today on CBS News' The Early Show that she would recommend Biden for Obama - though she still sings the praises of Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York, noting those 18 million votes she collected in the party's primaries this year.

Biden, Democratic senator from Delaware, told reporters staked out outside his home yesterday: ""Hey guys, I'm not the guy...'' Then he added: "I have not spoken to anyone.''

"So do you expect for Biden to tell the truth?'' Ferraro asked today, recalling the way that she had to dodge the question in 1984 when she was asked if Mondale might tap a woman - after he already had called on her. "You know, I knew I had already been chosen.''

If Obama called on her for advice, Ferraro said, she'd suggest Biden.

Of course, this is the same Ferraro who had said not long ago in an interview that the only reason Obama was having the success he was having in the primaries is that he is African-American - so we're guessing she didn't get that call for advice.

Running down the possible running mates today, Ferraro also suggested that someone such as Sen. Jack Reed of Rhode Island, a West Pointer, has something that's lacking in the party's presumptive nominee: "Knowledge about what is going on in foreign affairs...

"That is Barack Obama's weakness,'' Ferraro said, which brings us back to Biden. Here, courtesy of CBS News, is the Early Show interview that host Harry Smith conducted with Geraldine Ferraro, the 1984 Democratic nominee for vice president.

according to Geraldine Ferraro.

Obama and Biden both have what Geraldine Ferraro lacks - a brain not to mention the obvious other organs.

How the fuck would she know what Obama lacks when all she did during the primary was rail against him?

Difficult to believe she has his best interest and the best interest of the Democratic Party in mind.

She cares not one bit if Biden is selected. This is just another chance for her to complain and fault-find.

I hope she realises that such talk can come back to bite the party in the ass, come November...

Where's all the love for the first woman vice-presidential nominee?

I think it was all pissed down the pipes when she started talking like a rabid racist!!!

His selection as VP would seriously undermine the "Obama will never take your guns" meme that the Obama campaign is trying to circulate.

44. He would bother gun nuts (who won't vote Dem anyway), not gun owners in general.
"Obama will never take your guns" is just not necessary as a campaign theme. No one is seriously considering taking up guns. It's a crazy-think distraction issue.

In One Hundred Years of Solitude, Gabriel Garcia Marquez gives us a character who, after losing his mind and becoming unpredictable and volatile and embarrassing, is tied to a tree or the clothesline stanchion in the back yard. They bring him food periodically but generally keep him at a remove from normal human life inside the home.

Aunt Geraldine's time might be nigh.

33. I'm sure Ferraro really wants to get Obama elected.

Imagine, the corporate media, the RNC hacks, and Clinton supporters all beating the drums for a Washington Insider.

Hmmm... wonder why that could be? Maybe, it's because they want to kill the "Change You Can Believe" In message?

Obama truly is fighting on 3 fronts.
