How to get tickets to Obama event?
I just read that Obama will be having an event in Springfield IL this Saturday. That is close enough to me that I may be able to finally see him. I have called my local democratic headquarters, the Chicago headquarters, and the Springfield headquarters, all of them have told me that the event is not confirmed yet and they have no information on it and to call back on Thursday. I have even emailed through his website. I am afraid if I wait too long there will be no tickets available. There may not be any now but I really want to find out. If anyone here has ever has been to an event, if you can give me any advice on getting tickets, I'd really appreciate it.

1. Here is the RSVP link through the Obama Site.
I'm going, and several others from the IL Women for Obama group will be there as well. So far a few of us are staying at the Mansion View (3 blocks away), and another will be at the new Abe Lincoln Hotel (1 block away). Mansion view has suites if you need to take kids along.

2. I would expect that
since this will be the big event after he names the VP, anybody and everybody that can breath and walk and/or otherwise get themselves there will get in. The big thing will be nothing but a sea of people.

4. And I cannot wait to see it.
Seriously, I grew up down in Springfield. This is exactly what that area needs to revitalize itself. We drove down to the Dem Convention last week, and there was a record turnout of more than 1500 people just for a brunch portion that Richardson & Durbin (along with other state Pols) spoke at, and you had to pay to get in to that. That's an incredible number of people for that event. The republican convention was the following day - they only had 150 people show up.
