1. ...
This telephone survey of 700 Likely Voters was conducted by Rasmussen Reports August 18, 2008. The margin of sampling error for the survey is +/- 4.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

2. I'm not counting on Florida... I figured McCain would beat Obama there...
I'm looking for Ohio and Pennsylvania.

4. What are you saying McCain will win 10 states instead of 9 ?
I love the OP commentary, very inciteful.

7. I'm not saying Obama can't win Florida
but I'd say McCain probably has a 60% chance here.

Obama can get 252 EV's with the Kerry States, and to get to 270 he has better options than Florida, namely Iowa, New Mexico, Colorado, Ohio, Virginia, Montana, Nevada.

6. Obama WILL win Florida
I live here and Obama just opened new offices in Broward....and....he is doing better than Gore in Miami -Dade...he is winning the Cuban vote as of now if that grows he can take florida by 3 or 4 pts...don't believe the polls yet on Florida, and most of the new voters are poor and people of color and they are NOT being polled...

8. Time-out!
He's winning the Cuban vote? Don't they vote Republican? If he wins the Cuban vote he won't lose Florida guaranteed. Where's the proof though?

9. I have been canvassing the community
all the young cubans are working on their parents and MANY of them are switching...Ros-Lethinen has a good Dem challenger in her district, so she is VERY busy trying to keep her seat...so she can't campaign for McCone.........noe Obama needs to make in-roads in the latino community in the Orland0 area and I know that he is working on that.....

10. McCain has spent nothing on ads there, and yet is still ahead.
I know the margin is slim, but McCain has spent ZERO on ads there all year. As soon as he goes on the air there with a minimal presence, McLame is likely to pull away. Florida is just about gone in my opinion.

12. Close enough. Many Florida Dems are still pissed about the primaries.
Obama has plenty of time to campaign and work his magic. He does not need FL but he can win FL.

13. Obama will win in Florida... two reasons...
1) John McCain agrees with Bush on Social Security.

2) John McCain opposed the new GI Bill.

Many Floridians(older Republicans) will be staying home in November.

14. Florida has been a nice surprise, during the primary fight I would have thought that Obama
wouldn't have a chance in hell of winning, but it's been tight.

15. Same here, despite all the Hillary diehards here
Obama is getting 78% of Dems, which isn't great, but better than a Rasmussen poll of FL I saw at the height of the primary battle that showed Obama getting only 57% of Dems.

17. Makes sense. Biden is popular among seniors
and FL has the oldest population in the country, if im not mistaken.

18. Why not pick Bill Nelson as running mate?
Yeah, the astronaut guy! And brings national security experience and Florida's 27 electoral votes.
