I think it was on Salon or Huffington Post but the writer brought up an extremely excellent point.
John McCain wrote is autobiography back in 1999 and from what I read not ONCE did the guy mention about the cross in the sand. I mean, doing something like that, which btw is not a trademarked gesture, has been mentioned by many of people and even seen in movies but it's a moving concept - My faith is so strong that a cross was created in the sand, in dust etc. etc. etc. blah blah blah.
So McCain, who writes this book "Faith of our Fathers" clearly didn't think that was a significant moment of him praying with his captors using this homemade cross. And YET strategically when McCain is not only being questioned on his faith by some of the religious super-lears AND Obama is making inroads of gaining votes for this crowd, suddenly McCain brings out this revelation that "Oh yeah, as a POW there was this cross in the sand and I prayed with a Vietnamese guard"
My question is simple - would we have EVER heard of this story had the candidate been someone other than John McCain.
