Biden Seen as Frontrunner for VP Nomination

Biden Seen as Frontrunner for VP Nomination

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Former Presidential hopeful and Delaware Senator Joe Biden is the frontrunner in the Democratic Vice Presidential sweepstakes. Indiana Senator Evan Bayh is a distant second.

As the Democrats’ presumptive Presidential nominee Barack Obama prepares to announce his decision via text message to the media and his fans, Rasmussen Markets data shows Biden is given a 38% chance of getting the nod. Expectations for Bayh as VP material are at 20%. Results at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time on Tuesday, August 19, show two Democratic Governors—Tim Kaine of Virginia and Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas—are the only other contenders in double digits.

These results are updated on a 24/7 basis by market participants and current results can be found by visiting the market summary page. RasmussenMarkets.com is a “prediction market” or “futures market” that harnesses competitive passions in a way that becomes a reliable leading indicator of upcoming events. Individuals who participate can “buy” or “sell” candidates they think are likely to win or lose. It costs nothing to join and add your opinions to the voice of the market.

Some pundits believe the Vice Presidential selections may be very important this year as the race remains very close in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll. On the Republican side, former Republican Governor Mitt Romney is a narrow favorite over former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty.

Please don't google-search my prior posts to see if I've ever said otherwise.

5. Biden Calls for $1Billion Aid to Georgia

Biden calls for $1 billion in emergency aid to Georgia

Fresh off a trip to the Republic of Georgia, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Joe Biden said he will ask for $1 billion in emergency aid for the war torn country.

Biden, who is rumored to be very high on Sen. Barack Obama’s list of running mates, met with Georgia's president and prime minister on the trip, further burnishing his foreign policy credentials ahead of Obama’s decision.

“I left the country convinced that Russia's invasion of Georgia may be the one of the most significant event to occur in Europe since the end of communism,” said Bidenhttp://www.politico.com/blogs/thecrypt/0808/Biden_calls_for_1_billion_in_emergency_aid_to_Georgia.html

Something about $1Billion to Micro-Manage a country 9,000 miles away? How about fixing our highways, the bridges in Minn? What would $1 Billion in job training mean to those now unemployed? Not counting the disastrous Bankruptcy Bill and voting twice for the Patriot Act, I think a Biden VP would be the end for Obama... a lot of people will simply go to a write-in. (IMHO)
