2. ...and brings nothing to the ticket in terms of shoring up swing-state voters.

Two Northerners on the ticket...

Yeah... that will play well in the Heartland. NOT.

I like Biden, don't get me wrong. I just don't think he brings much to the table that couldn't be BETTER accomplished by a Southerner or mid-Westerner with FP bona fides.

3. Obama is already beating McCain in many swing states
the only area he is weak on is foreign policy and that's where Biden comes in.

6. That margin is closing ... steadily ...
following the national polls ...

I still think Bayh is the best pick ...

Biden is a guy who is going to bring positives and negatives ... I repeat, the media already has him typecast a "gaffe maker" and even if he does not say something stupid they ARE going to contrive a gaffe or gaffes, blow it/them up, then say that picking him highlights BOs inexperience in picking a VP he can't keep a handle on ...

It IS going to happen ...

That being said, they are going to twist things with ANYONE BO picks (again, IMO, among his many positives, Bayh's negative meme is the most benign) ... And, Biden will double down on the panache and charm on the ticket ...

I like him functionally, and would like the ticket a good bit, I just favor Bayh a lot more ... IMO, both Bayh and Biden are a good measure better than Kaine - I don't get that one much ... Va is one thing, but the resume is WAY too soft ... WAY too soft ...

8. Cheney shot a guy , people don't care for VP gaffes too much
the VP is kind of the person who is willing to take the negative hits and low opinion polls while allowing the presidential candidate to appear above it all.

Biden does well in debates and i can see him being a good attack dog and making fun of Republicans. i just can't see Bayh doing that.

5. i think they look great together
and Biden really does help with those who may have concerns about Obama and experience on foreign policy. i hope it's true . i will get behind anyone but i think this would be a great ticket.

9. Obama needs Biden to attack McCain on Iraq and foreign policy.
He'd be an effective pit bull, and Obama now sorely lacks one.

12. I find that a lot of people, regardless of party affiliation, like Joe.
And I think it's because he's known for his no bullshit approach. That's refreshing to any of us who are used to these rehearsed, politically correct, don't really answer the questions type of politicians.

I think that's what gained McCain popularity back in the day. I remember being impressed when he called Bush out on something or other.
