NRO: "Fellow POW: I Remember McCain Telling the 'Cross in the Dirt' Story"
Okay, this is getting iffy. You could argue this guy's lying, but I doubt you'd win that argument.

4. Do you think they're lying about what this guy said?
I don't have to like the magazine to believe this story. I'm not even saying this guy's necessarily telling the truth, but clearly he said what he's quoted as saying.

2. This one always was iffy for me.
I strongly believe McCain is lying. But there's absolutely no way to prove it. So I'm not gonna be wasting too much time on this one.

9. Whether you are convinced isn't the issue
I doubt you are an undecided voter or wavering McCain supporter.

11. The very fact they are having to respond to this raises the integrity question....
and there ARE undecided voters who ARE paying attention as well as those in the Christian communities who are "wavering McCain supporters". They are currently seeing coverage of the controversy labeled "Cone of Silence" along with "Cross in the Sand". It is the drip, drip, drip that will cause further doubt not diminish it.

6. Is that fellow POW
stumping for McCain one of his paid political lobbyist friends of one of the henchmen Karl Rove dispatched to his campaign?

7. Orson Swindle is not a credible source...
Regardless, I do agree that this is the type of thing that can never be proved or disproved.

Let the blogosphere play around with it, but the campaign should stay clear of it. Sort of like the McCain campaign and the "Obama is a Muslim" smear.

8. Swindle
Swindle is also on the board of Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW), an independent political advocacy group that seeks to eliminate waste, mismanagement, and inefficiency in the federal government. Throughout its history, CAGW has been accused of fronting lobbying efforts of corporations to give them the appearance of "grassroots" support.<3> In part, this is because CAGW has accepted donations from Phillip Morris, the Olin Foundation, the Bradley Foundation, Microsoft, Merrill-Lynch, and Exxon-Mobil. CAGW also has ties to convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.<4> While CAGW describes itself as non-partisan, it has endorsed John McCain<5> for president and donated $11,000 to his campaign or groups controlled by him.

16. I'm sure there are other POW's still around from that time who
were in the same cell that this guy and McCain were in.

The MSM needs to do its job and find a couple of these guys and ask them if they remember McCain telling this story.

Trying to use one of your own campaigners as a source is unblieveable.
