1. i remember but it's interesting seeing the reaction and replies from
many again.

Gephardt would actually have been a great choice then and now.

3. I still believe Gephardt was Kerry's number one choice.
But he was forced into choosing Edwards.

I expect the same type of reaction of Nunn/Gephardt/Bayh were to be selected by Obama.

5. There is some backing to that in Shrum's book
He spoke of Kerry being comfortable with Gephardt after meeting with him, but having doubts about Edwards because of his dramaticly telling the Wade story prefaced as the first time he told anyone - though he had done the same thing a few years before. Shrum said that Kerry wouldn't take Edwards without meeting him again. The way it is told is that it sounds like Kerry was being told that Edwards added the most to the ticket, he was clearly the media's choice and many powerful Democrats wanted him. It sounds like Edwards was able to persuade him when they met again. Kerry should have trusted his gut feeling, though he couldn't have known ahead of time that Edwards would not do things asked by the campaign.

2. Whoa!
For a couple of seconds I was hearing the Twilight Zone theme song before checking when this post was started and to my relief I realized that I didn't traveled back in time or in a parallel Universe. :)
