Advice for Protesters regarding NYC Police

The NYC cops & firefighters are, as you know, very upset because they want a pay raise. Bloomberg keeps telling them that there isn't enough money. Finally, in desperation, they recently wrote to Bush asking for his intervention. Many cops are still under the impression that Bush, you know, keeps his word and all that.

I suggest that many protesters carry signs saying things like, "Why does Bush treat 9/11 heros like zeros? Where are their raises!?!?!" I assure you that such shows of solidarity will demonstrate to the police whose side they really should be on.

Some are not (In NY I bet they are mostly democrats - and union people especially - they know Bush is an asshole).

as long as we do not give them trouble we should be fine.

In the event of problems you WANT the cops on your side.

5. If Bush does not respond to the letter....

then I think the NYPD is going to be pretty slack towards the demonstrators. I guarentee it. That letter has timing written all over it. If Bush does not respond the way the NYPD and FDNY want, then expect them to join the protestors.

8. And be nice to them while you're there

Most of the NYC cops are just regular people like the rest of us. For the most part they are not like the Hothead Miami Cops, who will go ballistic if you blow a stop sign. Keep in mind that a lot of these guys lost co-workers on 9-11 and are just as po'd with Bu$h & Co as we are.

I've been to protests in NYC before and always had good experiences with the cops there. It was the National Guard that would turn everything crazy.

Freeper provocateurs w/in the ranks of NYPD to stir things up a bit if the cops and protesters get too chummy? Just the most obvious one.
