The Saddleback Setup (A Picture Is All you need)
Edited on Sun Aug-17-08 10:02 PM by berni_mccoy

Hmmmm, look who's in the FRONT ROW sitting next to Warren's wife...

UPDATE: Since too many people asked: Kay Warren, left, wife of pastor Rick Warren, Cindy McCain, second from left, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., second from right, and Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kansas, were among those who attended the Compassion Forum.

7. Don't want to be a party pooper, but who was on her other side?
It's pretty std. practice to seat the wife, and strong supporters in the fron row.

Which brings up another question. Where is Trader Joe?

Geez, Cindy, you have enough cash and are certainly fashion conscious enough that you could have had your sling color-coordinated with your outfit.

Her pants look to be a fairly common color, doesn't seem like it would have meant flying in a designer or anything, not to say she couldn't afford that either, lol.

25. I think it's wierd that there's no latinos, no orientals, no indians or africans, in the US.
I had always heard the US was a "melting pot", so I guess it must be true, but I find it amazing that everything "melted" into a picture like the one above.

Just sayin

37. Oh, sorry. See, I'm Canadian, from Vancouver, B.C., a preferred destination for Chinese immigrants.
Your correction causes me a bit of consternation. So forgive me if I digress a bit, in responding

I deal a lot with people of Chinese backgroud, totally fluent in both Cantonese and English -- and, I have to say, very astute in business! I'd never thought much, "Chinese", "Oriental", "Asian" - tho' I suppose "Oriental" might be a European term? The mysterious Orient covers a lot more ground than China.

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree :
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.
So twice five miles of fertile ground
With walls and towers were girdled round :
And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills,
Where blossomed many an incense-bearing tree ;
And here were forests ancient as the hills,
Enfolding sunny spots of greenery.

Anyhow, when I wander outside I meet with people of hugely diverse backgrounds in a true polyglot, and a VERY PEACEFUL polyglot too! That's in "everyday commerce", on the street, in day to day business.

But I wonder about "in church". Hmmm, I do go to church quite often, but not always to the same one. It seems to me that in Canada, too, "in church" is very racially segregated, so much so that exceptions stand out. I wonder why this is?

:hi:

Walter Sobchak: What the fuck are you talking about? The chinaman is not the issue here, Dude. I'm talking about drawing a line in the sand, Dude. Across this line, you DO NOT... Also, Dude, chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian-American, please.

42. That is strange. Orange County has *large* numbers of Vietnamese and Latinos...
... and I didn't see any.

Was the audience the Warren congregation and not the general population of the city/county? Did they charge a lot for tickets to attend? I read someplace that it was a thousand bucks a seat, which really shocked me, but I have no link or other verification. Those factors alone would have insured a non-diverse crowd.

34. Marshall McClune taught that in cigarette ads
the directiion of the cigarette tip was very sexual and important. Up, at an angle, You are gettting ready to fuck. Straight out, you were fucking, pointing down, you have fucked. Very important to get the message across so that people will want more.

I'm not sure what that has to do with Cindy McCain's sling, but that came to mind.
