Why don't they ask the obvious: If Republicans really wanted to overturn
row v wade, why the hell didn't they? McCain should not be able to say he is against abortion anymore if his party did NOTHING to change it when they had all the chance in the world when they controlled the WH, the SCOTUS, and congress.

1. I've heard it suggested that the fundies are being played.
That the repubs will never reverse Roe v Wade because the issue of reversing it brings so many of the fundies to the polls. Once it's reversed, the repubs lose a major attraction.

That said, I would never put anything past the repubs. Another right wing wacko supreme court justice & we could very well kiss Roe v Wade goodbye.

3. That's what I've been hearing. Why won't the people wake up to this?
I'm so sick of ignorance on the real issues.

2. The Consequences would Be Too Much for the GOP
Every time they pull a school board putsch, or a whacko mayor, they get so beaten down it isn't funny.

They know it's a loser, and they can't afford to keep losing. Plus, there's no money in it. No graft, bribes, payoffs, etc. The only way it brings in money is by campaign contributions.

4. Repubs have been dangling that carrot in front of their fundies since
the days of RR and the fools believe it. There was NO reason they could not have passed laws against it when *ss owned both congressional houses so they should have learned from that. Obama was absolutely correct when he said they have not lowered the number of abortions in all the years they have had control. The Democratic Party gives families support (economic) in making the decision to keep their child if they chose. Repubs just complain about it.

5. Because they would lose their most favorite wedge issue?
