after McCain's multiple POW references last night, I am convinced our VP needs to be a vet
and one with a story to tell.

Did you notice how McCain defelcted Warren's questions by pulling out heart-tugging anecdotes from his biographical bag of tricks? He is leaning hard on his biography and we mustn't underestimate the effect this has on voters who are less inclined to go with the cerebral candidate. McCain is positioning himself as a kind of Christ-like figure; he suffered for US (Americans) and now we OWE him. Guilt (most Americans haven't served in themilitary) and sympathy are powerful marketing tools.

I really think we'd better get a VP with a military record, a vet, who has also suffered, sacrificed in service to our country... to neutralize McCains biographical 'advantage'. He made it clear last night he's going to exploit the hell out of it.

Now, I'm less familiar w/the Dems' biographical particulars, so who fits the bill?

1. I must have too many dogs
because when I read your subject line I thought, "the VP needs to be a veterinarian??"

Obama needs Wes Clark, a great patriot and veteran.

2. I guess you mean Wes Clark, and I agree
If military/foriegn policy is going to be a bigger issue than finances, then Clark is a natural. Hey, O and him could discuss philosophy and economics on the road to the White House. I'm fairly certain that the Russian/Georgian conflict wouldn't have surprised anyone in D.C. if Clark was at the helm, or anywhere near it.
Go with your strength. We can't let the GOPukes define our candidate BUT we do have to recognise areas of weakness. O gets high grades on just about everything dealing with humanity and decency. What he needs is someone with street cred with the military.
Clark already went toe-to-toe with the Russians. With him in the mix I'm sure Putin would not think he could push an inexperienced President around.

3. No, we need someone who is just as good at tapping into and expressing
the genuine anguish of Americans who can't afford gas, groceries, or medical insurance for their children, who are watching corporations suck their futures and retirements away, and who are still funding a devastating war that everybody agrees was a colossal mistake.

Barack said, "It's not about me," and he is right. He just has to express it passionately and personally enough to counter McCain's anecdotes.
