U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy will lead a tribute to America's military veterans on the Wednesday night of the Democratic Convention (Aug. 27), Democratic officials announced today.
Murphy, the U.S. House's only Iraq war veteran, has been showered with national attention since his arrival in Congress and the convention is shaping up to be no different. Among his other duties at the convention, Murphy -- plus U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz and two other "rising stars" in the party -- has been tasked with hosting a 15-minute webcasts that will air daily DemConvention.com and Comcast's Video On Demand, previewing the day's doings during the week of Aug. 25. They'll also be interviewing delegates and Obama campaign insiders, or so they say.
Other Wednesday night speakers include Bill Clinton, Bill Richardson, Evan Byah, Joe Biden, Jay Rockefeller, Harry Reid, Ken Salazar, James Clyburn. Iraq war veteran Tammy Duckworth will share the stage with Murphy in giving the tribute.
