and would not fold in a debate like Lieberman or Edwards did.

Because you can't ultimately legislate what another sovereign nation does.

22. It's what their constitution calls for.
I don't think it went anywhere (even though it passed and Bush signed off), because ultimately, Bush didn't want to hand control back to the Iraqis.

I was on an Iraqi web site/blog a lot at the time, and the majority of Iraqis posting were in favor of it and hoping it would happen.

At least we and they should have been able to try it - try SOMETHING. Bush gave them no opportunity.

10. He's a member of a group (Congress) that has a 19% approval rating.
I'd much rather see a Governor as the VP pick.

Maybe a popular Governor...say one with a 70% approval rating.

...maybe a Democratic Governor with a 70% approval rating in a red state...

13. The Most Important Quality IMO
is the ability to sell Obama's message with conviction and make it stick.

Closely behind that is the ability to attack the other candidate and make that stick. It's better if it can be done without the attacker becoming an attack dog or turning off voters.

Clinton was great at this, and I think Biden will be too. Regardless of demographics or current office, he seems like the right type of person for the role.

15. Biden is a longtime Washington insider who is in love with
the sound of his own voice. At confirmation hearings his standard approach is to go on and on about why the nominee isn't qualified and all the reservations he has...and then pull an about face and vote to confirm. He drives me nuts.

Plus, he voted for the war, which, IMO, shows a lack of good judgment.

Just....no.

Couldn't gain any traction in the primaries

26. Way too many negatives for my taste
Liberal east coast Senator (not that that's bad, it's just easy to attack as another east coast elitist and won't do anything for on the fence voters--moderate Democrats and Republicans and independents); gaffe prone; full of himself; doesn't deliver any voting block (women, Hispanics, independents, working class Democrats, swing state voters); and garnered almost no votes as a Presidential candidate in the Democratic primaries. His only contribution to the ticket would be his experience in foreign policy but that won't attract many undecided voters; if foreign policy experience is the be all end all factor in selecting a VP, Wes Clark or even an out of box selection like James Jones or Colin Powell would be a better pick.

34. I did't say what you just said, at all. Be fair.
Lot's of men have personal views about abortion, but on the issue of choice, agree it's the woman's. That's not inconsistent. That's not ambiguous. That's not risky. That's honest.

36. I know what you meant
People don't "like" abortion and sane people would do whatever they could to prevent a woman from getting to that point starting with birth control and education. I'm a woman and I'm pro-choice. That doesn't mean I don't dislike abortion.
