Who is going to the DNC or RNC, and why?

I hear about all the protests, but haven't read too much about them. Any ideas?
And of course, who will be at the DNC to celebrate?

1. I will be going to the DNC because I was invited to go by the DNC!

Besides, this is the first time since 1960 (when I was 8) that I was
invited AND was going to be in the country at the same time.

The fact that this one is going to be full of historical precedent-setting
just added to my decision to go. I am under no illusions about hanging with
anyone of importance, even the ones I know personally. There will be a thousand
people tugging at their sleeves at this thing, and I don't feel any great need
to be one of them. I just wanted to be a part of the whole thing, and if Howard
wants me in there as part of it, then I'm happy. From what I understand, although
still a legal resident of Texas, I am overseas so much that I will be representing
Germany's Dexpats (Democrats Abroad)--I think. For all I know, I'll be asked to
fold napkins for some afternoon tea or something.

8. God, I so wanted him on the ticket! The pix I posted was just made in Greensboro a few weeks ago.

What a charming, intelligent man! I think he would have been an excellent president, and I told him so in Greensboro!

10. I'll bring along the camera, anyway

Andy Tobias said the place would be an absolute madhouse, and I believe him.
Howard will be just a little busy!! I get to see him in smaller venues usually,
and always have time to chat, and sometimes even trade guitar solos back and forth
(he is a fellow guitarist and Leo Kottke fan). Howard knows that a lot of people
wish he had gone farther, and freely admits that during his campaign in 2003-2004,
to quote him, "we didn't know what the hell we were doing."

4. Sigh On the outside looking in. My boss is going, and I can hardly wait to hear all about it.

She's part of the crowd who's been to Oprah's, she's had her pix made w/O several times, and is on a first-name basis w/O's campaign manager. She personally knew Coretta Scott King and a multitude of others. I keep kidding her and telling her that Obama will give her a role in his administration, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he does.

9. I'll be at the RNC

Protesting of course. Though I don't really know much more about it than you seem to. I'm a bit nervous! I have no plans or ideas at all. Do most people usually have them by now? I've never really been politically active in anything before and I'm not sure what to expect. I'm sure I'll come up with a fancy sign or something else uncreative.

I'd so much rather go celebrate the DNC than protest the RNC but I already live in St. Paul and I cannot afford to travel, not to mention tickets to get in. so it's what's convenient for me.
