1. Alright, I don't get what the
McCain campaign is thinking. Maybe they don't believe in a ground organization. It is puzzling.

37. They're spending all of their money now on TV ads
Obama is saving his and opening up campaign offices. Dividends will pay off big time in September and October.

4. Yeah, Obama runs the ground game while McCain beats Obama in
advertising. Right now that is. But in October, Obama will have loads of cash and will buy so much ad time.

7. McBush needs to dump a wad now before the convention.
Then he's on a strict diet of some $89 million public financing funds. That's when Obama starts barking LOUD fueled by his own wad.

14. Because he might win it? Long shot, but still- with Barr as wildcard...
McCain not only faced problems with Independent voters, he is losing a small, but potentially lethal voting block of the GOP right to Barr. The former Republican congressman from Georgia is pulling just enough voters in many states to shift the balance to Obama. Whether this bloc will remain in Barr's camp on election day could determine the outcome.

“Barr is hurting McCain all across the country,” said Fritz Wenzel, director of communications for Zogby.

The Zogby poll of 1,142 likely Arizona voters was conducted June 11-30, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. The survey found Obama leading in Arizona with 42 percent of the vote, followed by McCain with 39 percent. Barr had 7 percent, followed by Independent Ralph Nader with 2 percent. Five percent of the voters selected other candidates and 5 percent were undecided.

Wenzel said 16 percent of Arizona voters who described themselves as very conservative said they would vote for Barr, with 64 percent backing McCain. The double-digit defection to Barr signals further trouble ahead for Arizona’s senior Senator.

“That’s very dangerous for a Republican candidate,” Wentzel said.

The poll shows Obama crushing McCain among Arizona Independent voters, 51 percent to 28 percent. The number of Independent voters in Arizona has skyrocketed in the last year and now makes up 27 percent of the state's voters. Republicans continue to hold a narrow 38 percent to 34 percent lead over Democrats in registered voters.

17. I'd like him to mak a campaign stop here just to embarrass McCain (and it would), but
he doesn't have a chance. We're concentrating on local races like Maricopa County sherriff to get rid of the fascist Joe Arpaio.

8. so McCain is giving up on Indiana
and Montana? North Carolina?

What?

don't they understand how bad it would be for them to lose those states?
even if they over performed everywhere else, it would kill their chances.

I could run a better campaign than these jerks.

12. Yeah, I guess so
I can understand NC, but not having any in IN or MT is asking for trouble.

I think they're making the same mistake Hillary did in the primaries. They're pouring all their efforts into the big swing states, but the problem for them is Obama only needs to win 2 out of these 4 states: PA, MI, OH, FL. Obama can win the election by winning a lot of smaller states that were overlooked in 04.

10. An Obama campaign headquarters
is different than a local Democratic campaign headquarters. Nearly every county has at least one Republican and one Democrat party headquarters where you can get yard signs, bumper stickers, volunteer for phone banking, etc.

The headquarters they are referring to is official regional headquarters ran and paid for specifically by the campaign. The lack of either Obama or McSame in Cali is simply because it will be blue no matter what. Look at the tighter states like Ohio, Florida and Penn.

his 35 offices in Florida is misleading. Many of those 35 offices are owned by the Republican Party of Florida, not John McCain. Those offices do a small amount of ground work for McCain, but mostly for Senate\Governor\Congressional District races.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that earlier.

but those offices were for the primary battles. Many of those offices have closed down now, some have turned into general election offices. I guess in SoCal, all the primary Obama offices are now closed.

36. Could be because
during the primaries, candidates open many offices in states. But after the primaries, many of the offices are shut down, while some because General Election campaign offices.

I think these numbers are more trustable because Nate Silver ( the owner of 538.com) actually called the offices in each state last week to see if the office was still running

33. This reinforces what we thought. McLiar's Priority Number One is
defending FL. Then MI.

If McLiar loses either of those, he loses. But, if he loses Ohio, Indiana, Virginia OR Colorado--he still loses.
