If Wednesday's theme is "Securing America's Future" and the VP will speak, then it is interesting ..
that the motto of Wes Clark's Political Action Committee is 'Securing America's Future', at the URL http://securingamerica.com/

Coincidence perhaps...just sayin...

2. Wow - a coincidental "word for word" theme?
Wes Clark would be great ~ he'll kick some butt!

3. I seriously doubt it will be Clark. He's already been shown, fairly or not, to be
more of a political liability than a political asset. And that "New York Money People" quote will come back to haunt the ticket, especially since the GOP is trying to make Obama the enemy of Jews.

7. I Think He Converted To Catholicism In The 60's

His father was Jewish, and he and his family attended other churches too, one of them Baptist I think.

11. He Didn't Become Aware Of His Jewish Ancestry Until He Was A Young Adult
Not sure of the exact year, but I think I read about it in his last book, "A Time To Lead."

10. I think you are correct...because of his wife right?
And I was thinking Jewish not by religion, but by heritage.

Anyway I do stand corrected.

14. Clark's father was Jewish, so that means Clark is too by blood.
Edited on Mon Aug-11-08 02:32 PM by sparosnare
He is a practicing Catholic and was born in Chicago; raised in Arizona so he'd bring the south. There are so many good points about Clark that I believe he would be a good choice.

He fits with Obama's campaign MO of a Washington outsider, was against the Iraq war from the beginning and has the FP credentials to smack McCain down. He cannot be called an elitist; raised middle class, lived on military pay his entire career.

I think Clark is the only man who can successfully call into question McCain's 'credentials'.

17. Ethnically, not Religiously
In Judaism, the only guarantee of identity by blood is through a Jewish mother. Jewish father can't confer identity (except in Reform and Reconstruction movements).

However, Clark would be eligible for Israeli citizenship.

12. No. His father was Jewish, but his mother was Methodist.
He was raised in his mother's religion. Converted to Catholicism as an adult.
