CSPAN caller (Vet) livid and calls Kerry treasonous.
This call was this morning, his voice shaky, and this vet is upset at Kerry and said he personally thought it was treasonous because of what Kerry said. Hello? How many years has it been? These right wingers are such freaking idiots. You would think the idiot would be furious of that Dumbass in the WH now because he never showed up in Viet Nam. Unbelievable.

I really believe the vets that hate Kerry are acting this way because Kerry came back to the states and told what really happened in Viet Nam and they don't like it.

1. How much you want to bet
he wasn't really a vet! These wingers get themselves so exorcised about nothing. Frankly I think that most of what * and Cheney have done constitutes treason.

2. It's amazing how many people suddenly realize they have been outraged at
John Kerry for his 1971 Senate testimony all of their lives. How have they managed to live with the outrage all of these years?

13. All those "Vets" who never heard of Kerry before or known about his role
in VVAW, suddenly are full of tales about how he was the reason they were "spit on" when they "came home" (if they ever left!).

3. That guy wasn't old enough now to be 19 years old
at the height of the draft during the war. Stupid fuck's just relying on what someone told him.

6. You know, now that you mention it.
That guy didn't sound old enough. I knew he was probably lying thru his teeth but I didn't think people would go to the extreme to trash Kerry.

4. And Kerry never did "accuse" anyone of doing anything...
In 1971, he was a spokesman, and was relaying testimonials from other vets who actually did the things he spoke of.

It's not like he was making anything up.

Testimony given at the Winter Soldier Investigation:

11. Some people who did testify at Winter Soldier
were later proved to have been fakes themselves, but Kerry had no way of knowing who told the truth and who made up stories.

16. Not true
No one was proven to be a "fake." The co-ordinator of the event did misrepresent his rank, but that's it - he didn't testify. Not one of the testifiers was ever proven to be a "fake." That is just an old smear.

5. Probably an armchair commando playing vet on TV..
The chickenhawks "think" that gives them some kind of legitimacy by claiming to be something they never had the guts to be.

20. Ugh...the C-Span callers get more rabid by the day. Had to stop watching
because of the nutcases they allow to spew their craziness. Who knows if this vet was real or not but such outrage after all this time seems a little weird.

9. I hear a lot of so called "Vets"
calling talk radio, but I bet at least half of them have only been on a battlefield in their wet dreams, and the only uniform they wear is one that says Burger King on it.

but I was very aware of the anti-war sentiments by Vietnam vets. No way a real vet could be this oblivious.

18. It's called "Denial"
If he IS a vet from 'nam..he KNOWS that that kind of shit went down. Maybe he even had a hand in some or witnessed it. But in order to admit this to himself, he's have to wrench his view of himself to something less bearable than it is here in denial-land.

22. ITA annabanana..............
The hatred of some VietNam Vets against Mr. Kerry would be recognized by many mental health professionals as denial. As long as these vets can convince others that Kerry has embellished and/or misrepresented events in VietNam,then the atrocities that they have seen and heard of and taken part in, some of the shameful events that they could not control or refused to stop - they can convince themselves that these things never happened.

And they'll never have to raelly deal with what happened on an emotional level, either.

19. what about things that coward said, like this?
''Q Okay. Then on the general issue, Senator Kerry has said that the National Guard was one way for people to avoid service in Vietnam. The President and the White House have taken umbrage at that, saying that's denigrating the National Guard.

In 1994, the President told the Houston Chronicle, in relation to his joining the National Guard, "I was not prepared to shoot my eardrum out with a shotgun in order to get a deferment, nor was I willing to go to Canada, so I chose to better myself by learning how to fly airplanes. It sounds like the President, himself, acknowledged that he went into the National Guard because he didn't want to go to Vietnam.''

they asked Scott McClellan about his at a press gaggel in FEBRUARY!
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/02/20040210-3.html

I've seen this quote around for quite some time, but didn't realize it had gotten this kind of notice.

From the WH press room to where? the memory hole?

what if Clinton had said something like that during his presidency?

how could EVERYBODY on TV have ignored this?

there are a couple more that are equally egregious

21. Whoop, there it is. "I chose to better myself"and not "I chose to serve
my country". That speaks volumes of Chimpy's character.

Karen Hughes would not let him make such a statement as he did in '94.

So I guess they think that = no story?

And how nice for Bush, that he had such a broad choice! Just warms your heart.

24. Me thinks thou protest too much
(my apologies to Shakespeare)

It seems to me the reason these SBV and other Vets are so rabid about Kerry's testimony and the truth is that they may be guilty of said atrocities.
