Possible vice presidential candidates, lawmakers and campaign surrogates are hitting the airwaves Sunday for the morning public affairs shows.
Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine (D), who has been the subject of recent vice presidential speculation, will be on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” The Hill recently profiled Kaine as part of its Veepstakes series.
Louisiana Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal will appear on ABC’s “This Week.” Jindal was invited to Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) home over Memorial Day weekend, along with other potential vice presidential candidates. However, Jindal recently told Fox News: “Let me be clear: I have said in every private and public conversation, I’ve got the job that I want. And I’ll say again on air: I’m not going to be the vice presidential nominee.” Expect him to get asked about the No. 2 spot again.
Jindal was also profiled as part of The Hill’s Veepstakes series.
Joining him on “This Week” will be Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico, the Democrat who became a vocal surrogate for Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) presidential campaign after ending his own White House bid.
GOP Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida will be on CNN’s “Late Edition.” Crist was also at McCain’s Memorial Day gathering and recently got engaged.
Gov. Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania (D) is also on the program. Rendell originally endorsed Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) in the Democratic presidential primary but has since become a top Obama surrogate. Rounding out the show are New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R) and Sens. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and John Cornyn (R-Texas).
