Markos Moulitsas Zúñiga is a Frickin' Genius

Markos was given a scan of Obama's birth certificate when there were weird calls for Obama to release his birth certificate by the rightwingnuts and the Pumabrains.

Ha promptly posted it on his site, and Obama posted a scan on his "Fight the Smears" site a few days later.

Funny thing is, the picture file Markos put up and the file Obama put up, though they look similar, have some discrepencies between the two. Most notably, there are some artifiacts present in one but not the other.

So what's the "genius" in this?

Ever since the scan was posted, the reichwingnuts and Pumabrains have been spinning their wheels chasing ghosts. Just imagine if these weirdos had spent time trying to dig up dirt on Democratic Congressional and Senatorial candidates.

It's possible that there are two different scans of the same document because it's pretty obvious that this is the same document in both files, and most likely a staffer scanned the doc and sent it to Markos before another scan was made for Obama's own site, thus explaining the discrepencies between the files.


So kudoes to Markos for seeing the value in placing the file he was sent on his site. The wingnuts and pumabrains might give him heck, but they ahve less credibility than the consiracy theorists about UFOs.

Viewing a jpeg in an editing program and inadvertently saving it is enough to introduce slight file differences/artifacts.
