an affair. They would be crazy to try and pull this story out thread by thread. They know it too. Even though they are loving this, they know it would open a huge can of worms for McCain. Up until now, McCain's affair and how he ended up married to Cindy has been shuffled around but never focused on too much. This could bring it front and center to stay.

Did you see McCain answer that reporter yesterday? When the reporter asked McCain about Edwards, he immediately said, "I have no comment," and shut it down. I watched McCain's body language and it spoke volumes about how uncomfortable he is with this. He KNOWS the damage it could bring.

Now the media is another thing. :eyes:

1. The media knows that McCan'tkeepitinhispants has his own problems
on that front--they will never bring it up. Except for Mark Green, who did bring it up.

2. Edwards himself said it
last night on Nightline (really quickly... when they asked him if it would hurt Obama)

4. If pundits want to make comparisons about infidelity, they
should compare Obama to McCain.

Michelle is Obama's first wife

Cindy is McCain's second wife. They had an affair while McCain was still married to the woman who bore him a child and faithfully did all she could to promote the cause of POWs during his entire imprisonment. Nancy and Ronald Reagan were friends with this wife and never forgave McCain for divorcing this wonderful woman just to get rich by dumping her and marrying Cindy.

That left McCain's first wife severely injured (which is the state he left her in when he started to see Rodeo Queen Cindy

if they push it too hard. We have been walking on egg shells on how to attack McCain. And this has nothing to do with war hero worship. :hi:

20. Yep ...
They will hammer it as long as it is a democratic scandal, and as long as they can talk about BO at the same time ... The moment the dots start connecting to McCain, the story will die ... Quickly ...

10. Grammatical correction -- JSM III has not had "an" affair, but many.
I am not sure how many of his former affairs we have documentary evidence of, but part of his sucking up to the media for decades has been to get their gentleman's agreement that they'd keep his hanky panky out of the news.

Maybe after John Sidney McCain III, with 7 homes, $520 shoes, unlimited credit and a net worth of over $40 million, had his affair with Cindy Hensley the beer heiress and then married her, his affairs stopped. He may have just liked Vicky Iseman a whole lot. She helped with his fundraising.

And maybe the corporate media can forgive themselves for not covering JSM III's indiscretions because affairs had during the more freewheeling days before the 90's when Republicans decided to use sexual infidelity as a weapon just don't count.

11. I don't think the GOP is feasting upon this. It's the MSM
blame them.

I think because McCain's ex has been so publicly supportive of him, because it happened 30 years ago and all of that, the press and the public just aren't as interested in Mc's affair. If he were having an affair while campaigning for president, yeah, they'd be all over that but otherwise? Not so much interest.

13. An affair is an affair...they've even talked about bringing up Clinton
That was 10 years ago and old news...but they'd still bring that up.

14. We Need To Get The Word Out On This

Obama will have to be circumspect about McCain's background, and I agree that the MSM will probably avoid the topic if at all possible.

But, folks: that sure as hell doesn't mean that we ought to stay silent. Google the detailed Wikipedia write-up on McCain's random fucking, and then spread the word---letters to the editor of your town paper, phone calls to your local right-wing hate radio shows, whatever other outlets are available. We can turn this whole sorry mess into a positive if we put the effort in.....

16. Isn't it ironic that our only divorced president was Republican, the family values party?
And if McCain gets elected, that's two-for-two.

Reagan was the first divorced president. Not only that, he was sleeping with Nancy while still legally married to Jane Wyman. Not only that, if you check the date Ron and Nancy were married and check the date their first child Patti was born, you'll find the two events occurred less than 9 months apart (actually about 7 months).
