Obama: 'Backyard'

McCain goes negative on Obama in broad strokes on the Olympics, Obama releases his second, scathing local attack. Yesterday it was DHL in Ohio; today, he's airing an interview in which McCain -- who backs disposing of nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain -- says he opposes shipping it through Arizona, casting him as a typical not-in-my-backyard pol.

Obama Skewers McCain in Nevada TV Spot

The Land of Lincolner’s latest attack ad features Rep. Shelly Berkley slamming McCain on Yucca Mountain position.
“John McCain has been the leading proponent of storing nuclear waste in the state of Nevada, while Barack Obama has been adamantly opposed to Yucca Mountain from the start.”

Watch it above. Permalink

I'm beginning to see a pattern here. I like it.

Obama's attack on McCain in Ohio:

Obama Camp Uses Ohio DHL Issue Against McCain

The Land of Lincolner’s campaign unveils a radio ad airing in Ohio criticizing McCain and his campaign manager for aiding a DHL buyout deal that could cost the state more than 8,000 jobs.

“It was McCain who used his influence in the Senate to help foreign-owned DHL buy a U.S. company and gain control over the jobs that are now on the chopping block in Ohio.”

Listen to it here.

11. After 26 years in the Senate, McCain must have screwed every state at least once.
Find the dirt, expose it to the light.

13. Exactly. He has pissed off and attacked something important to almost every state already.
The Obama camp continues it's more individualized focus on each state. It flows well with the grassroots campaign. McCain has to try to win this thing by an above the clouds, carpet-bombing attack on Obama's character.

22. Kerry targeted swing states in 2004. National media wouldn't report those attacks occurred, so
many Dems already in blue states were unaware they even happened.

There is a big difference in today's media, probably because more left sites are aggressively following the campaign, far more than they did in 2004.

This will be a huge plus for Dems in 2008, though we cannot relax for a minute, and need to further these attacks, even the local ones, because most national media will STILL hit the mute button whenever they can in order to protect the powerful elite served by the GOP.

" I keep telling the truth, they just think I am giving them hell" Give them the hell they deserve Barack.

15. Finally!!!!!!
Does he have a new person/firm making his commercials?

All you have to do is use McCain's own words against him. It's almost too easy.

My only complaint is 'Why did they wait so long?'.

23. They rolled out Ohio yesterday, Nevada today. Hopefully, they have a negative state (or national)
ad to roll out each day of his vacation.

They also rolled out a positive spot yesterday - the "Hands" commercial that is airing nationwide during the Olympics.

26. K&R
"The national numbers mean nothing," said John Kupper, the "K" in AKP&D, last week by phone. "These are not national elections but state by state elections. We have vote goals. We know prior performance models."
