This is a message I received from a woman who is a friend of some of my relatives the other day. She gave me permission to use it in full. I have pasted her response and below it the Obama chain letter she received. I have removed the names of the person who wrote this, her husband, and the person she was replying back to for privacy purposes. - Bill

I think he would have a hard time denying he had a black father as he hardly looks like his white atheist mother or her parents. When I saw his grandmother in Kenya interviewed she seemed proud, as I would be that he is a candidate. He is well educated and certainly appears to be very intelligent. I know many dislike him because he is part black. Does the color of the skin affect brain power? It is not easy for a half white child to fit into the white community, that I know.....Even in Montana. As for his million dollar home, we have some hard-working young American families who do too in our family, I am proud to say. That should be called the American way.
He has a fresh outlook for the future of America, that has to try to pull our country that we all care about, to try to become a part of what it was just eight years ago when the oil tycoons and their buddies decided to become even more greedy and cost our country it's livelihood our men and women for several generations served gallantly to save from destruction. Not to forget the wonderful job our Military people are doing today in behalf of we citizens who hardly recognize we are a Country at War, while we merrily go on without any crimping in our style of living. Bush inc. has done the job that the Japanese, Italians and German dictators couldn't do to our country.
To me the henchmen who have run this country for eight long years and now have a candidate willing to give us eight more years of the same have done much more destruction to the economy, our military and every other aspect of what we knew and loved about this USA than any of us will ever know. Nor will we survive and return to the level we had before Bush went to the Oval Office in our lifetime. Consider our borders open and our immigration program a thing of the past and like it!
For the week Obama visited overseas I listened to every speech McCain gave and not one thing was mentioned about what his plan for our future would be. He could only badmouth Obama in every verbal statement he made.....while he continues to argue every point Obama brings up. What poor speech writers, but I understand he can't use the usual props most speakers use. I cannot believe after hearing what he said that he could continue to be so mouthy during this campaign and still never say anything, even to promote himself as a candidate.....
McCain has SUCH A NASTY MOUTHY CAMPAIGN!! I gave him credit for being a POW and always had a soft spot in my heart for him until I read his record of voting in the US Senate on Veteran issues. He doesn't vote as a Hero! He has voted against the Veterans in every piece of legislation available while strongly believing in the Iraq war and continuing to make more casualties among our loyal troops. His point he continues to make is that the surge works........ Well, with between 90,000 and 100,000 Sunni Iraqis on the monthly US payroll for avoiding conflicts I haven't heard him mention that too may also be a reason for less involvement over there, right?
With 4 out of 5 Service people returning from Iraq with PTSD this WAR is totally wrong. I know, I lived with that for 30 years! It took 10 years after Viet Nam for my husband (I replaced name with "husband" for privacy reasons) to be recognized by the Veterans Administration with PTSD before receiving any care and he was the first in Montana to be recognized. PTSD caused him to be a different person who barely can survive on his own plus having had two huge Cancer surgeries and a totally different personality than before. How many more are like him?? Our Veterans need attention from all of us and immediate care for PTSD.
I believe in my right to attend any church of my choice, or not to attend, is my civil right. I believe everyone else should share that privilege. I am a firm believer Church and State are to be separated. Our country was founded on beliefs of the Bible, and it served well for 200 or more years. Let's let it continue to be that way.
When John McCain ran against George Bush we listened and thought he had his head on straight but now he is continuously shouting hot air. Nothing he says makes sense. Listen to him. He has lost whatever he did have! God help us all if he leads this country in the next four years!
