Obama opens 29 campaign offices in state

The presidential candidates hone in on Pennsylvania

Friday, August 08, 2008
By Mackenzie Carpenter, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Sen. John McCain may have been spending more time campaigning in Pennsylvania since the April 22 primary, but as of last night, Sen. Barack Obama can claim more offices.

Last night, surrogates for Mr. Obama -- from Sen. Bob Casey to Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter to state Auditor General Jack Wagner -- marked official grand opening celebrations at 29 locations across the state.

"We are in the process of building a strong campaign organization, the size and scope of which this state has never seen before," said Mr. Obama's Pennsylvania state director, Craig Schirmer. "These 29 field offices are in every region of the state, including towns that have never seen a presidential campaign office before."

Each office will coordinate local voter registration drives to build on Democratic gains that took place before the primary.

Mr. Casey was scheduled to speak at office openings last night in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, and in Pittsburgh, Mr. Wagner was to appear at Mr. Obama's Smithfield Street offices, Downtown, along with County Councilman Jim Burn and former City Councilman Sala Udin.

1. Freaking-A!!!! This is how we will win!!! They're taking the Iowa strategy to all 50 states!
I am so impressed with these guys. By the time the McCain camp realizes how outflanked they are, it will be too late.
