I have a feeling that Hillary is on the VP shortlist
Yes I know that she is scheduled to talk the night before Bill delivers his speech to the convention. However that could change very fast.

Today Obama was asked what he thought of Hillary wanting her name to be on the nomination ballot and I could see how uneasy he was. He did not seem to entertain that idea. Maybe because Hillary was high up on his VP shortlist?

With Bill Clinton scheduled to introduce the VP pick, I think Hillary's VP chances just went up a bit.

1. Then why schedule her at all? You don't make any sense..Bill was always going to speak,
He was President you know..

Not having him speak would be the story

3. Bill did not have to speak right before the VP
I actually think Hillary has a much better chance of being the VP than Evan Bayh or Kaine.

2. Mmm, I don't know. I keep remembering the press release saying she was an "unlikely" pick
due to vetting concerns re: Bill.

That being said, I hope not. Of course I would still vote for Obama, but I would not continue to volunteer for his campaign if she were chosen. I've been thinking about this for a few days, and I just could not do it. Besides, in my mostly-worthless opinion, it's a losing and loser ticket.

5. On the "short list" with an asterisk.
The asterisk denotes LOSER.

Fuck me, but if I have to vote for a ticket that includes a Clinton(vote for one, AND YOU GET BOTH) I'll do it quietly and without admitting it to ANYONE.

6. But if HRC was on the shortlist, why would she jeopardize it by flip-flopping on the nom ballot?
Edited on Fri Aug-08-08 12:40 AM by CakeGrrl
Hopefully Bill's speaking spot is simply an olive branch, no more no less, and HRC's speech on Tuesday sticks to plan.

If HRC is on the ticket, I have to believe it's against Obama's true wishes and under some pressure. It would be too easy for McCain to attack his judgment and paint Obama as having caved to the pressure of accepting a VP who doesn't even believe that Obama is as qualified as McCain - not to mention being very easy to attack on his platform of "change from the usual Washington politics".

I'd like to think Obama wouldn't burden himself with that of his own volition. From the opposition strategy's viewpoint, she could be an anchor around his neck.

But if they pass the vetting with flying colors, so be it.

Do we have confirmation that BC is announcing the VP, or does he simply have a spot on Wednesday?
