Obama Invesco ticket details due today

Article Last Updated: 08/06/2008 10:45:03 AM MDT

Details about the process for getting public tickets to Barack Obama's acceptance speech at Invesco Field at Mile High during the final night of the Democratic National Convention are to be released this afternoon at the stadium.

Officials with the Democratic National Convention Committee and the Barack Obama campaign will join Gov. Bill Ritter for the 2:30 p.m. press conference.

Obama switched venues from the Pepsi Center, where the opening nights of the convention are to be held, to Invesco last month. The presumptive nominee's campaign says Obama wants to open up more than 60,000 seats to his grassroots supporters.

As first reported by The Denver Post last month, the campaign wants to use the ticketing process as a massive recruitment tool meant to bring in supporters from all 50 states and energize them to carry the campaign into the final days of the general election.

Obama's deputy campaign manager, Steve Hildebrand, told The Post: "We're going to ask those 80,000 people in that stadium to march out of there and go with very specific instructions and goals to register millions of new voters."

At INVESCO Field At Mile HighMore than Half of Seats to Go to Colorado Residents with Nearly Two-Thirds of Seats Going to Mountain West Region; Community Credentials Available in All 50 States

How Community Credentialing in Colorado Will Work

Colorado residents who are interested in applying to attend the fourth night of the Convention at INVESCO Field at Mile High need to visit http://co.barackobama.com/invesco or call the Colorado Campaign for Change Community Credential Hotline’s Toll Free number (888) 468-7404 (TTY: 720-362-2208) or visit any Colorado for Change office for additional information from now until August 12. Among the criteria for selection will be the ability to travel to Denver.

While volunteering is not a prerequisite for recipients, Coloradans who volunteer with the Campaign for Change will have the opportunity to receive all-star seating for Barack Obama’s speech.

Starting August 12, the Colorado Campaign for Change will notify individuals via email or phone that they have been selected to receive community credentials. Individuals who are not selected for credentials will remain on a waiting list in case slots become available. Community credentials will be distributed at Colorado Campaign for Change offices across Colorado.

“One of the best ways we can introduce Colorado voters to our campaign and our vision for this country is getting them involved in the Convention,” said Obama For America National Co-Chair Federico Peña. “We are delighted that the DNCC is allocating so many community credentials to our state. It will allow Colorado voters of all parties who want take a look and a listen to our message of hope the chance to do so in person.”

4. Now dammit, H&C, you are just so fast. LOL. I got an email from
Colin, a campaign staffer, a little while ago. Hopefully I beat a whole bunch of people out. And then just a minute or 2 ago I got the official email.

So, I come here, hoping to get the jump on you JUST ONCE. But nooooo. Of course not. You always win. No fair. :)
