I don't buy Rachel Maddow's worrying about Obama not being aggressive. Here is why: Pacing

There are still 3 months until the election, and people tend to pay more attention after the summer.

So his trip overseas DID NOT hurt him. It set important groundwork, or backdrop, for the eventual success of his campaign. It was a good time for the trip, to get rid of the meme that he hadn't visited Iraq, and bolster his look as a stateman, even if looking like a president wouldn't really change the undecideds.


There will be plenty of time for negative ads. Obama is correct in focusing on some of the more "pro-active", ground laying efforts right now, rather than poll/opinion/talking heads based focus.


Not that he should ignore negative ads, but he has leeway. He doesn't need to rush them out.
