Big Media Anti-Dem Spin: The Kerry Dean Box?

We have read many posts by folks complaining that Obama did not fight back like John Kerry, thus echoing the Big Media talking point of 2004. However, what happens if Obama fights back? Well, then we hit the other side of the Big Media Spin box; that the Democratic candidate is too angry, shrill or unfit to be President, which was the Big Media Spin given to Howard Dean.

So, while the common criticism leveled by DUers is that Obama should fight back so that he does not end up like Kerry, that potentially sets up a round of Big Media spin that Obama is the second coming of Howard Dean, and that he is too volutile to be President.

It is all BS, but even DUers buy into the Obama is the second coming of Kerry spin. Thus, why not Obama as the second coming of Howard Dean?

1. Obama just called those fuckers Liars and Ignorant Pricks today

He's not scared of them. And the media can say what they want. We'll just donate more, so he can have the tools to fight back!!!!

2. I think a lot of people confuse

being even-tempered and being apathetic.

Similarly, they confuse being visibly emotional with either caring about something or being unhinged.

3. Agree - Can't Really Worry About Pleasing The GOP or Big Media Pundits

If we don't fight back, Big Media will spin Obama as being weak on hitting back, and start raising the Kerry comparison. However, if Obama slams the GOP, then Big Media is liable to raise a Howard Dean comparison.

So, my point is that Obama should keep on doing what he is doing, and DUers need to stop worry about Obama being compared with past candidates. Obama is neither Kerry nor Dean. However, we should also not be surprised by the Big Media spin, and be prepared to fight it.
