It's a common and often-observed theme, but here's how I think it could be executed.
So anyway, here's the idea. The commercial opens looking down on a thick stack of paper with a top sheet that says "Bush position on energy: drill offshore." A right hand/forearm holding a stamp comes into view and stamps the paper with something like this:
Thump.
Then a left hand comes in and takes the top sheet off. You see another position of Bush's that McCain's gone with. Thump.
Then the motion accelerates. Thump. Thump. Thump thump thumpthumpthumpthump, until it's a blur - but you see a few major headlines first where McCain has supported repugnant Bush positions, like "Run up huge deficits" and "Deny after school programs", etc. After three or four seconds of motion so fast it's a blur, it stops, the hand puts the stamp down out of sight, the left hand holds the right wrist while the right hand is wrung. While the wringing's going on, you hear Bush saying "No doubt about it, it's tough. It's hard work." Then you see a shot of something like this, wobbling on the desk:
and a voiceover saying "It's not so hard when you have one of these."
I know it's negative, but the McCain campaign is succeeding right now at turning this election into a referendum on Obama - casting doubts, etc., etc. I think ads like this are needed to remind the country that McCain represents four more years of Bush, and that's the key to a Democratic victory - reminding the nation of John McCain's 8-year role as cheerleader and water carrier for George W. Bush.
