Poll question: Will our VEEP be announced THIS WEEK??
If Obama announces this week, the Olympic ads can include both names ~ and the veep can be a strong surrogate while Barack is on vacation.

Will he or won't he??

1. This week I hear he will have some face time with some of his possible VPs.
He'll have to audition several. We'll prolly get a clue when we find out who got the audition and who didn't, but that may take a while. So I voted no.

2. Are you the lone "I think so" vote, polichick? :-)
Although it would make sense with the reasons you cite, I'm not getting my hopes up. Wish he would, though.

3. I voted yes because I hope so - we haven't had many strong surrogates lately.

12. I hope so too --
but voted no because, as I said, hate to get my hopes up.

It can't come too soon!

5. If it's not this week, it'll be at the convention.
Which means Obama won't be able to get a double-bump. I think this is the wrong move, because if he chose his Veep this week, it would provide him a chance to get a bump heading into the Olympics and then another bump during the Democratic Convention.

6. I'd go for the double-bump too - slow down the McShame sludge train.

9. Right and with all eyes focused on the Olympics the week after...
It makes it less likely either candidate will get much press. So it'll be easier for Obama to sustain some type of lead, unlike last week.

7. I no longer think so. Considering chickenshit McCain has indicated he's holding out...
Until Barack makes his decision, I think it would be pretty fun to string it out until the convention. The rest of August is dead politically (due to the Olympics) anyhow.

8. I'd feel better about waiting if we had more strong surrogates...
Just don't want to see a vacuum which the other side could fill with slime.

I suspect she won't be the only one out there for Obama.

13. Yes.
I originally predicted tomorrow as the day but will move it to...Tuesday or Wednesday.

Either Bayh or Kaine or Biden.

16. I used to think so
Edited on Sun Aug-03-08 05:17 PM by DFLforever
now I don't know what to think. I imagined he'd announce in the last half of the week, so that McCain wouldn't have the time to upstage with his own VP. But I can't believe Obama would announce a VP and then take off on vacation. Isn't he scheduled for a fundraiser in Hawaii the following week?

But I don't really believe he'll wait for the convention either.

One thing, he's got us and McSame on edge guessing.

19. Actually I think he's handling it quite brilliantly
Just when we think we have it pretty well figured out, a few more names are put out to throw us off track.

He's attracting a lot more media attention for his choice than McCain and I get the feeling he could care less who McCain picks while McCain is on pins and needles awaiting O's decision.

25. Michelle Obama is going to be at a VA fundraiser on Wednesday.
She'll be there along with Tim Kaine.

I think that makes it less likely, as has been speculated, that Obama is going to announce Evan Bayh on Wednesday morning.

31. Sure
Because of the concern over protests at the convention and other craziness from the dead ender Hillary supporters that refuse to let this thing go, they will hold off not making Hillary the VP choice until the last minute. They don't want to give these people fuel to organize more crazy people in advance of the convention.

the VP selection has almost always been within a week or two of the convention.

Then again, this isn't the usual election...

28. Also, there's the question of whether the Olympics affect the timing at all.
In both 2000 and 2004, the games started after the Democratic convention. This year they end immediately before the convention's start.
