Is it safe to assume all of these polls don't include...
people who are just registering now or this year? Aren't most of them based off of previous voter registration? I could be wrong about that. But it would seem if that is the case then there could be a rather large upset depending on who the newly registered are leaning towards.

Is this stating the obvious or am I missing something?

3. Polling -
at least GOOD polling - is randomized. The people who receive calls do so because a random phone number generator using valid exchanges creates a list of possibly valid phone numbers. They are called and the first few questions would decide whether to continue the poll, e.g., Are you registered to vote?

If a sizable number of new registrations is taking place, they should be reflected in the poll numbers.

4. Yes, when they say 'likely voters'

they are automatically discarding anyone who just registered. When they say 'registered voters' they should be included.

5. Michael Moore mentioned this on Bill Maher's show. You are
correct - they are not included in the polls. Only people who have voted recently.
