Sole Black Reporter Booted from McCain Event

Tallahassee Democrat senior writer Stephen Price was singled outand asked to leave the area reserved for media at a rally for John McCain in Panama City, Florida, on Friday. He had showed his media credentials and employee i.d. in order to enter the area when a member of McCain's security detail asked him to leave.

"I explained I was with the state press, but the Secret Service man said that didn't matter and that I would have to go," Price said.

When another reporter asked why Price was being removed, she too was led out of the area. Other state reporters remained.

Price was the only black reporter among those surrounding McCain's bus ... was he being "profiled"?

A Google News search turns up a single mention of this event, in the Tallahassee Democrat. I'll go so far as to predict nothing but the sound of crickets until tomorrow's edition of Countdown.

4. Missed this til Keith tonight ! Quite a shocker! How can we be so blasé

about the fact that a credentialed local reporter was asked to leave a local news event by the JSM III security team. That is definitely rude behavior and was allowed to pass with minimal comment. This is a glaring story of rudeness and yet it bobbed by in the stream of disturbing behavior by the JSM III campaign this week. We can only hope their crude behavior and slimeball ads are now rebounding on them.

The gaffe cascade is almost too good to be true. That they have done so many ugly things in a row. Me thinketh they doth screw up too much. Are we being clobbered with the please don't vote for this guy messages quite deliberately? The country desperately needs a Democratic administration to clean things up, get us out of debt again, into alternative energy and Medicare for all. And quickly.

So let's hope John Sidney McCain, with 7 homes, $520 shoes, and unlimited credit, continues to reveal himself and his affiliations to the public.
