What Is The BOTTOM LINE For You? (In A VP Candidate)
For me, that candidate has to be a true Democrat. All kinds of good stuff are included in being a true Democrat. (intelligence, honesty, anti-war, compassionate, etc. The list goes on . . .

6. Loyalty tops my list.
She/he has got to have Obama's back in every way, catch him when he falls and tell him when he's wrong.

And help keep him alive, seriously.

These are hard and evil times.

7. That's a big part of my list too (or at least would be if I were Obama)
I personally don't care that much about who the VP is. But if I were Obama, loyalty would be a huge factor to consider.

IMO that's why Kaine is being very seriously considered.

10. Someone whose integrety matches Obama's
No DLC sellouts or other DINO types. I fully trust Obama to pick someone who compliments his campaign and isn't simply a "pick up such and such state" candidate that won't be an effective VP.

12. Honestly? Anyone will do. I have my preferences, but I'm not voting for anyone else.
So he can pick Laura Bush, and I'd vote for him.

I have preferences, of course. I'll be angry if he picks Nunn or Kaine. I'll be thrilled with Clinton or Richardson. I want someone competent and liberal, who believes that being liberal first and foremost is about equality, and has appropriate positions on the issues.

But I'll vote for a yellow dog if he that's what he chooses.

13. A Democrat.
There's a spectrum of beliefs in this party, from progressive to moderate-conservative. As long as I can tell they're not a Republican, they're okay by me.

Hillary Clinton would be fine, so would Evan Bayh, Joe Biden, Kathleen Sebelius, Dennis Kucinich, Russ Feingold, Tim Kaine, Bill Richardson, Janet Napolitano -- the list goes on and on.

I just think it's really important that we win this next election. It's important for the Democratic Party certainly, but I think it's also important for America. For the sake of this country, we really need to win this one.

And so I'm willing to accept any Democrat.

15. Prefer a Democrat to a Republican, prefer
Chafee over Hagel and Nunn, but almost every possible Democrat over Chafee, prefer dark blue to pale blue Democrat, prefer that the dark blue Democrat is strong on domestic issues like education, health care, veterans, and energy.

Don't care if it's a governor, senator, or someone else. Don't really care what region of the country that much. Male or female doesn't matter. They can be left- or right-handed. They should have several Emmylou Harris CDs.

If it's someone from Georgia I prefer Cleland over Nunn.

I think Obama might be leaning hard on the notion of service to others. So maybe someone with a demonstrable track record in that area or someone expressly willing to undertake it. I think in the long run a lot of anonymous people are better served with this in place than without its being in place, as we've just seen under Dubya for the last 8 years.

A lucky veep choice would be someone who after 8 years of Obama's progressive judicial appointments could become president for another 8 years of still more progressive judicial appointments.

I like the idea of 16 consecutive years of activists progressive judges a whole lot.

17. My only litmus test, is that the candidate be less likely than the Republican candidate to be a
force for war rather than a force for peace.

If it should ever, become clear to me that any Democratic candidate for any office would not meet that one and only minimal criteria..I could not in good conscience support them.
