That is my response.

If Obama doesn't start fighting back big time the same thing will happen to him that happened to Kerry.

The Rethuglicans have started to get nasty--and Obama says nothing. That needs to change NOW!

1. Again with the "Obama says nothing" meme. Hmm.
A few hours ago John McCain, the same man who just months ago promised to run a "respectful campaign," said he is "proud" of his latest attack ad.

That's the one attacking your enthusiasm, comparing me to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, and making false claims about my energy plan.

Now, we're facing some serious challenges in this country -- our economy is struggling, energy costs are skyrocketing, and families don't have health care.

Given the seriousness of these issues, you'd think we'd be having a serious debate. But instead, John McCain is running an expensive, negative campaign against us. Each day brings a desperate new set of attacks.

And they're not just attacking me. They're attacking you.

They're mocking the desire of millions of Americans to step up and take ownership of the political process.

They're trying to convince you that your enthusiasm won't amount to anything -- that the people you persuade, the phone calls you make, the donations you give, the doors you knock on are all an illusion. They believe that in this election the same old smears and negative attacks will prevail again.

They're wrong.

And right now, we have a few hours left to prove them wrong in a very concrete way.

Make a donation of $5 or more before the July fundraising deadline at midnight tonight.

Show the strength of our movement for change.

Thank you,

Barack

2. Funny how DUers run around like scared ninnies with every attack....
That, or else they're actually a part of Clinton 2012.

4. Wake up naive guy. Look at the poles and do a little real study on the science behind negative ads.
If they are going to do it, and we do not, it isn't a matter of whether we will lose it is a matter of by how much. We must attack McCain. Your insinuation that I am either a ninny or on Clinton's campaign is bogus...however I have done extensive research on why negative attack campaigns work. It is complex, but the bottom line is that it does. And once it does work it is almost impossible to role back the damage.

3. Sorry, that isn't going to work against this tactic:
Negative ads work because they deal with a very primative and powerful part of our brains, which is the Reptilian brain. It isn't enough to say "he's being negative...we have real problems like energy and health care." It doesn't work...and the Rethuglicans have long ago figured that out. And if Obama screws around figuring it out he will lose.

We need ads that show him looking old...show and refer (indirectly) to his skin cancer. Note that most companys wouldn't put a 72 year old in a ceo position let alone running a country. We need to attack his flip flops. We need to go into Ohio and Pennsylvania and show over and over what he has said about Nafta...show him going to Columbia. We need to bring up the fact that he fought making Martin Luther King holiday a national holiday.

Dirty...dirty and dirty. Pile it on and don't stop. Or we will lose.

5. So when you say "Obama says nothing"
what you mean is "Obama's failing to bring up McCain's non-existant cancer."

OK

12. It isn't nonexistent. He has had melanoma on numerous occasions.
The statistic is that people who have the kind of skin cancer he has had are dead five years later 40% of the time.

Why people still believe the media lie that Kerry did nothing is astounding.

13. You TOTALLY miss the point. You don't DEFEND yourself. You attack HIS character.
You call him unpatriotic, stupid, ignorant a liar, a flip flopper, etc. You find the weakness of the candidate in the minds of the public and you repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat. You grind it into their heads until they think the thoughts without even thinking the thought. This is what works. And once it works it cannot be undone. Defending yourself from an attack does nothing. You must attack on the ground where your candidate is weak.

14. That's what Obama is doing
He is fighting. What else can he do if the media isn't going to support him? We should be asking "Where are the Democrats?" The surrogates have been out there.
