Margaret Carlson was just on tv actually making sense.

Did anyone just see her on MSNBC with Andrea Mitchell. I generally dislike Margaret...she too often goes with the Beltway script and I find her to be very boring and disingenuous a lot of the time. Didn't she also say "Oh, we all knew that the Al Gore internet rumors weren't true, but they were sooo fun to talk about!" Whatever, Thelma.


But anyways, she was fairly sensible just now. She brought up the fact that McCain has many Karl Rove types now working for his campaign, and that they probably made a decision to pounce on the next time Obama said the things he's been saying (the "they're trying to make you scared of me")so they could use it to their advantage and claim that Obama was the one playing the race card, even though they knew Obama had been saying it all along . And she said that for the first time, having enthusiastic crowds was being turned into a supposedly negative thing, by saying that it's "arrogant". And she said "The McCain campaign puts it out there and the press falls for it...the press falls for it because they always like 'themes'". Again, let me reiterate that I personally find that Carlson is one of those annoying "journalists" who falls for Themes, but I thought she said several good things just now.

4. Of course the GOP was waiting for Obama to make ANY allusion

to his race--they want to use SUBTLE racist imagery and attacks, almost too subtle to catch (along with the not-so-subtle email and internet racist smear campaign going on behind the scenes--Whitey tape, etc.), not get called on it, and then claim Obama is playing the race card the second he mentions race.
