I'm stunned by this here on DU.

The McCain ad guys learned everything from Karl Rove and I'd say the chances of these guys deliberately developing a racial subliminal message is pretty damn good. Remember---Rove graduated from the Lee Atwater school of political slime--- and Lee had the greatest racist ad of all time with Willie Horton.

Don't ever underestimate these dirt bags.

think it will help them.

Racism is almost the least disgusting of their tactics.

3. I agree with you but the inference is not overt, but it appears to be a SET-UP for O
and that is why it is dangerous. On the same day McCain's campaign comes out swinging with that comment that O is using the Race Card.

They took the opening of O's mention of not looking like others on the dollar bill and they ran with it in a despicable manner on top of the racially subtle attack ad, that ostensibly is about "celebrity". Let's just say it is an ingredient in their sick stew.

They are blowing RACE all over this. There are a lot of people who eat it up. Divide and conquer with the white working class, with any man who has felt competitive with a black male. Mix in a good amount of old fashioned subconscious memories of when black men were not allowed to EVEN LOOK AT A WHITE WOMAN without being punished or killed....

Let's believe in O's strength. I think he is ready to defend and counter and I think McCain is desperate.

4. I agree
but those who think that their intent wasn't racist simply don't know the characters behind the mask.

5. Don't take it too hard, DU's a big tent...
I takes the good with the bad around here and try to keep a thick skin and flamesuit handy.

I found the juxtaposition of Obama's face to the words "foreign oil" to be xenophopic, and by extension, maybe racist.

I'm not convinced that picking Britney and Paris in this case was designed for it's "Big Scary Black man with skinny blondes" appeal, but I could be wrong.

There's worse coming, and as you say, we can't underestimate them.

6. Donald Segretti - Lee Atwater - Karl Rove - and so on.
Dirty tricks and thinly veiled slurs are the GOP's standard approaches. Of course it was intended to juxtapose his blackness with two blonde, white females.

This commercial is aimed at shoring up McCain's support with the GOP base.

7. Just recall one thing
McSame/Bush III wants us talking race. There is the idea if we nip it in the bud...but that assumes the GOP cares. They'll just keep up with it and never make it overt. So, just ignore it and make fun of the fact Bush III is "proud" of using Britney and Paris.
