I don't think high gas prices are hurting the Democrats
The GOP keeps pushing drilling yet they are predicted to lose big time this fall.

I don't think Americans are blaming the Democrats for high gas prices, just the GOP.

1. They blame Big Oil, their excessive profits and their $33 billion in tax breaks
Nobody but a Republican is blaming the Democrats.

2. Congress.
Record low.

Obama's ahead 90% because of the "change" message.

3. I think you are wrong, I hear people that are Democrats
everyday blaming the Democrats for the gas prices. This BS about not allowing drilling in AWAR, or offshore, not wanting to use coal or nuclear is going to beat us this fall.

Like Wyoming, Kentucky, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

9. You want electricity to run your stuff, right!
Well most of it comes from coal. It would be great if they had an all out program to develop solar and wind power but you will still need coal and nuclear. We got the Ohio river right here with a dam every few miles and only one hydroelectric generator that I know of. The government sold the generating rights to the dam nearest here to a town 150 miles away and it just sits there unused for some reason.

7. If you hear someone bitching about not
being to drill in ANWR then they need to call their congressmen and have them make the oil companies drill in NPR-A. Then tell them that is what the NPR is for.

8. The overwhelming majority of the people
Edited on Thu Jul-31-08 07:06 PM by doc03
in Alaska want to drill in AWAR. A friend of mine just came back from a fishing trip in Alaska and the guides were in favor of drilling there. A fishing guide is one person that could stand to loose most if it was bad for the environment and they support it. A joke they have up there is what kind of trees grow in ANWR? answer (there isn't any)

10. There are some that want to drill in ANWR
Edited on Thu Jul-31-08 07:06 PM by Arctic Dave
however like most people in the US, Alaskans don't even know what the National Petroleum Reserve is. Whoever you meet ask them what they don't understand about Petroleum Reserve and Wildlife Reserve. If I were to guess I would say that no one you run across will have a clue as to what the NPR is. Ask them if we should drill in a place that actually has petroleum in the name or not.

12. No many that I hear saying we need to drill in ANWR and
offshore also think we should use some of the NPR supply too.

14. I think that is a lot of the problem
we should not just "use some" of the NPR supplies, we should it first before even thinking of ANWR.

11. Today's report of a record profit by XOM was a missed opportunity for Obama to frame the
argument against Big Oil. If nothing else just say that they are raping us and something needs to be done about them.

13. I'm sorry but the average American doesn't
know or even care what the the oil companies make. We are the oil companies, many if not most Americans profit from the oil companies if you own stock or a Mutual fund of almost any kind. I have 4 Mutual Funds in my 401k and IRAs and all of them hold oil stocks.
