The quest for a McCain bumper sticker...my vacation and more
I was in Ohio the last four days hanging out with relatives and enjoying my time.. and when I started out I decided I would count the number of bumper stickers and signs I would see for candidates and other political figures for the entire trip. I started in Virginia, through the Pennsylvania turnpike and up into Ohio to the Bath area, a pretty rural area. Here's what I saw.

Obama - 13 stickers
McSame - 3 stickers
Bush - 5 stickers
Ron Paul - 3 stickers

Obama - 2 yard signs
McSame - 0 yard signs
Ron Paul - 1 big sign

Now throughout this trip I looked LONG and hard for McCain bumper stickers and what I got was a couple small window stickers and one regular bumper sticker in the window of one van. I saw NO McCain stickers in Ohio at all. Not in the rural area, not the suburban areas and not the city area. NONE.

What this tells me is that 1. McCain will win the rural areas but with less turnout Bush got and with more Democratic votes this time than what Bush got. They just aren't enthused about McCain 2. Obama can win a place like Ohio and Virginia with good turnout. 4. This election is mostly about Obama and partly about the distrust of Bush and Republicans. I think he has PA in the bag but the rural and suburban voters of VA and OH are waiting to open up to him. They aren't sure about him yet. He has to control this rabid RW media that attacks him every day. They are starting now what they did to Kerry in 2004 and they are trying to brand him. He has to stop it.
