Why is ou party afraid to go negative?
Obama is a confident man---The repukes label him as arrogant...it starts to stick
Obama is an insprational speaker---the repukes say he's a an empty suit who gives a good speech...it starts to stick
Obama worked his way up to where he is now on his own---the repukes call him an elitist...it starts to stick

See a pattern?
The Repukes look at our strengths and they attack them, they know full well that if an attack is repeated enough times it will start to stick. They aren't concerned with blowback or being seen as crass or tasteless or even stupid, they simply seek to peel away a few Obama voters one smear at a time.

So what do we do?

McCain is a war hero----Clark calls him out on it...we retreat and admonish Clark for disrespecting the great and Honorable McLame.
McCain is knee deep in Oil money----we do nothing....he takes the lead on the issue and starts beating up on our candidate on a daily basis threatening to make the issue HIS and use it as wedge on the economic debate.
McCain has supported the war----we lose our voice and don't even attempt to tie him to Bush.
McCain hugs on Bush, takes Bush supporter corpo money and Hires a gaggle of Rove clones----we say nothing.

Molly Ivins once said "We will stop telling the truth about Republicans when they stop lying about Democrats" well I'm here to tell you that we (and by We I mean the Democratic party leadership) aren't even TELLING THE HORRIBLE FREAKING TRUTH ABOUT THESE GODDAMN MUTT REPUBLICAN SLIME BAGS.

I have given money to Barack, I will give more and my time but Barack and Pelosi's strategy of staying above the fray WILL NOT WORK. Because the Republicans are going to attack, attack attack 24/7 until the election UNLESS they are forced to defend!

Why hasn't our party leadership coordinated a plan to not only Make Rove testify BUT ALSO TIE ROVE AROUND MCCAIN"S NECK!

Why hasn't our party leadership tied the DOJ scandal AROUND MCCAIN"S NECK????

WHY haven't we tied the mortgage crisis around bush and mccain's neck!!!!

WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?WHY?

Would the Republicans shy away from doing the same to Obama? Hells no they are tying imaginary made up things around Obama's neck like arrogance or uppity nigger or not visiting the troops doesn't our leadership realize that if they had the type of ammo we have been given that the race would already be over by now?

It's so frustrating to see us yet again get led down the cattle shute and get brained by a Republican attack machine that is armed only with cheap tricks while our guys and gals (Pelosi I'm looking at you) sit on the sidelines loaded to the gills with great ammunition to use against this Mccain mutt and DO NOTHING OF CONSEQUENCE.

1. Because we have basic decency.... we're not inherently evil like they are.

2. No one is afraid...
Staying positive is the right thing to do.

Obama needs to keep it going the way he's going. Nothing wrong with taking the high road. Nothing wrong with NOT taking McCain's bait. Nothing wrong with being the better person.

8. If we were playing Monopoly I would agree
But we are talking about people's lives here.

WE may feel smug and comfortable in the fact that we lost with dignity but we will have to suffer another term of Republican excess.

12. I couldn't possibly disagree more...
Going negative is exactly what the GOP is hoping for... exactly what they want. McCain is digging his own hole with all his negativity and people are noticing.

4. Not to worry. People are (finally) getting wise to "negative" and getting turned off by it.
Not everyone, but enough that I believe it makes a difference.

5. Americans hate the Republicans now. We don't need to help America in that regard. The Obama camp is
playing this all very, very well; no need to go negative.

11. Why are the polls even close, then?
Not that I totally trust these polls, but if our strategy were working, wouldn't his numbers be up around 60%-65%?

7. ASking why would only be useful if the answer, if there is one, leads to a solution.
Actually, I think that a superiority complex may be a large part of it. And that the "wisdom of their views" should carry the day. Therefore, they don't have to "lower" themselves to the thug level.

Maybe noble. But incredibly stupid. They just do not recognize that politics has changed and the role of the media is paramount.

But I have absolutely no faith that the Dems will pull out half the stops to win this election. It would not be that hard. They could have an effective advertising strategy of just showing clips of what the pukes have said.

9. That's the point! The Dems can go negative
WITHOUT lying.

I would end every single Obama commercial with a picture of McCain and Bush together.

10. It's the media that is doing it, though
If the Democrats fight fire with fire, the media changes to the other side of the double standard. If McLame were Kerry, they'd do nothing, if Kerry were McLame, they'd have fired back about how evil it is to question someone's service in wartime.

It's frustrating. But you know the minute we had anyone questioning McLame, McLame would become the victim in the media.

One can only hope the voters finally see the double standard. CNN et al don't rule the world, but they'd like us to think they do.

The right also has endless energy for their wrongful behavior. Emails with false info about Obama are always being sent by right wingers. No one sits down to make up a truthful email about McInsane and bounce it back whenever the lying ones come, or even send it out to people voluntarily. Right wingers are so presumptuous. Liberals aren't, and so don't send out emails like that, because they think it's everyone's business what they think. Their very virtue of tolerance goes against them.

13. We need to tell the public about the story of Wetstart McCain.
Tell them about the Forrestal fire.

I don't fucking care. Even if it's nothing but lies. They'll do it to us. They DID do it to Kerry in '04. We should be getting revenge for that.

Being "better" than them means fighting with one hand tied behind our back, and I'm sick of being hamstrung.

14. The Forrestal fire wet start is BS and easily debunked
Edited on Sat Aug-02-08 10:14 PM by RamboLiberal
by the official investigation and plenty of Forrestal crew who will call it BS. We don't need to go there.
