Shuster Just Reported: McCain Planned To Attack Obama re: Troop Visit No Matter What
Now that this has been quoted in two places, I hope to see Democrats attack McCain for his willingness to use wounded troops as a weapon in this campaign.

They should scream this from the rooftops.

"John McCain is using wounded troops as a desperate way to bolster his weak campaign!"

Before Barack Obama had even reached American soil again after his overseas trip, the McCain campaign had arguably the most insipid campaign commercial of the year, arguing that Obama blew off wounded U.S. troops: “{H}e made time to go to the gym, but cancelled a visit with wounded troops. Seems the Pentagon wouldn’t allow him to bring cameras.” We now know, of course, that the campaign was blatantly lying. (That said, the lie seems to have taken its toll.)

Nevertheless, what would have happened if Obama had, as McCain later suggested, blown off the Pentagon’s demands and visited the wounded troops as part of his campaign excursion. Business Week’s David Kiley reports, the McCain campaign was prepared for that contingency, too.

What the McCain campaign doesn’t want people to know, according to one GOP strategist I spoke with over the weekend, is that they had an ad script ready to go if Obama had visited the wounded troops saying that Obama was…wait for it…using wounded troops as campaign props. So, no matter which way Obama turned, McCain had an Obama bashing ad ready to launch. I guess that’s political hardball. But another word for it is the one word that most politicians are loathe to use about their opponents — a lie.

This is what some people are calling the Hannity strategy. Right wing nut-muffin Sean Hannity employs a slick strategy of repeating canards very quickly over and over, day in and day out, which aren’t challenged by his TV co-host Alan Colmes or by any of his radio listeners. By relentlessly repeating falsehoods day after day, the theory goes, it becomes embedded in the media.

I haven’t heard anyone actually call this the “Hannity strategy”; it sounds more like traditional Republican efforts to “catapult” the propaganda.

5. I agree, the way to beat republicans is take no prisoners and when you have a opening, you use it
because if you don't they will.

This is like yesterday when Gregory asked Harold Ford if he thought race was being used against Obama and he said no but Rachael had already said that race was an issue in this campaign.

Well, what do you see today, McCain claiming Barack is using the race card. We don't need people like Harold Ford who only wants a nice position in the DLC and buddies up to people like Scarborough. We need people like Rachael who calls them as she sees them and I think the Obama campaign will handle it in their own time and when they think it is the appropriate time to address it.

Obama will not be a pushover.

7. Of course they did!
Just as the corporate media will attack Obama no matter what the campaign does.

Which is why it's so bizarre how many Democrats run around afraid of their own shadows wondering: "what will the media say if we do _________?"

Is this any surprise, really? I would have predicted it if I hadn't been out of the country when it happened.

Proud to get this on the Greatest page!

10. What a jerk
McCain deserved to be targetted with hard attack ads by us. We can't let him lob his stupid attacks at Obama with impunity.

11. Of course he did.
Not McCain per se, but his campaign.

Of course they were going to go negative either way, no doubt about it, and they had some kinds of plans.

I'm glad it made the news.

14. We need to make this huge...
If we could get wide exposure on this, I think it would resonate with independents because it exposes McSame as the complete phony he is. It would help de-rail the whole straight-talk express BS the MSM is STILL running with...
