McCain In Iowa: "I'd Just Commit Suicide" If Democrats Take Control Of Senate

ABC News' David Chalian reports: While campaigning for Republicans in Iowa today, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) jokingly said "I think I'd just commit suicide," when he was asked how he would react if the Democrats gained majority control of the United States Senate.

He didn't know how Social Security even worked, 25 years in Congress and you'd have thought he caught that one. Plus he's so moronic about policy that three times recently his campaign has essentially had to say that John McCain doesn't speak for his own campaign. So if he didn't realize the Dems have a majority, that wouldn't surprise me. Especially since he's missed more votes than all the Senators for the last few years outside of Tim Johnston who nearly died and was out most of the time.

Clearly you don't have a Republican sense of humor. They find the humorous side to all sorts of tragedy and affliction. Where you saw tragedy in bodies floating in the water in New Orleans, they saw comedy material. If you think it's a shame that someone is ignored and left to die for lack of health insurance, they think it's slapstick. They see so much hilarity in the misfortunes of others that they think the world needs more misfortune to make it a funnier place.

... This is not the kind of response to hard times that James Grant had in mind when he wrote his July 19 Wall Street Journal essay entitled "Why No Outrage?"
