This is how we sell it to minniesota give him superhero status. Everyone loves a superhero and he takes the magic number to 60. Whadda ya think?

1. Well, I wouldn't say he definitely gets us to 60...
but as for the strategy, I think you'd have to back that up. Obama's image, while certainly cultivated heavily, was first created by the man himself. I don't know that Franken has that sort of inspirational je ne sais quoi.

8. On the contrary, I'm not totally convinced the Dems will get there.
The Dems need nine seats for 60, and after the first five or so (CO, NH, NM, VA, AK) things start to get pretty dicey. Picking up all of MN, OR, ME and MS (or some even-longer shot like KY or GA) isn't the most likely of outcomes. I figure the Dems get the first five, plus two or three of the latter four, putting them at 58 or 59 seats. Of course, with those sorts of numbers, a filibuster will still be extremely difficult for the GOP to maintain.

5. Franken led me to DU
I had basically given up on ever finding much in the way of a "liberal" media before 2000 beyond the occasional op-ed in the pages of the NY Times...

However, I heard about Bill O'Reilly threatening Al Franken over the upcoming "Lying Liars..." book and I was compelled to buy it.

The book blew me away - funny, well-written and fact-based, and I knew there must be other people out there who felt like me. So, I used the internets tubes and the google and found a site called "O'Reilly sucks" and that eventually led me to here.
