Clinton to Hit the Trail for Obama in August
Clinton to Hit the Trail for Obama in August

The New York Senator says at a presser on FEMA trailers in Long Island Saturday that the Obama camp is dispatching her to “several” battleground states next month.

“I’m going to leave it to them to announce. I don’t want to in any way get ahead of them. But, you know, I’m doing whatever I’m asked and whatever I can.”

2. Wow, I Love That Picture
OK - this is totally shallow, but I love the way her suit and his tie match.

I never wanted Hillary as our nominee and have several concerns about Hillary as VP, that being said, neither am a Hillary-hater who thinks she will deliberately try to sabotage his campaign to run in 2012.

Anyway, in that picture they look very good together. It helps me visualize her (if not as his running mate) with a key position in his administration.

6. I doubt it
Not all that many Senators give up safe seats to serve a few years in the cabinet.

9. Why would she want to serve in the cabinet?
She's got a safe senate seat for years to come. Far more influence and autonomy.

14. She has an extraordinarily bright future in the Senate...
IMO, that is exactly, what with her tenacity and ability to play partisan politics, is where she can have the biggest impact. She could be the next Teddy. I frankly don't know what the VP spot does for her, rather than the other way around. Unless, of course, Obama nominates a VP who would definitely run in 2012. I do see how that complicates the issue if she is really set on another shot at POTUS.

5. I found it fascinating
that even though they were going at each other tooth and nail during the primary they still look good together. I think she will work hard for him and this is good because we are going to need everything we can get to overcome the barrage of slime the Republicans are going to throw. I know several Clinton supporters who will likely stay home this fall. Maybe, just maybe, if she hits the trail for Obama they will be swayed to get off their "feel sorry for myself asses" and go vote for Obama. I should say that I also know some Clinton supporters who are now working hard to elect Obama.

11. Clinton: “I’m going to leave it to them to announce. I don’t want to in any way get ahead of them.
But, you know, I’m doing whatever I’m asked and whatever I can.”

That sounds pretty clear to me.

12. That's right
she sat at home and connived with her evil advisors: "what dates shall we campaign for Obama?"

"I know! Let's do the month of August, because everyone will be watching the Olympics and no one will see us!"

"Brilliant! That way we get to fuck him up good!"

"Exactly!"

Fist bump.

15. I think the timing on this is quite good.
Late August - early September (around Labor Day) is when the general election really kicks off. This is the time when voters are really starting to pay attention to the campaign and the candidates. Having Senator Clinton campaign at that time is good thinking.

I think who we choose as the next President of the United States is far more important than how the American Water Polo team does at Beijing. And I would hope that voters feel the same. This IS probably the most important election in a generation. It certainly is the most important election in my lifetime.
