Sugar Land - Woman confronts couple with bumper sticker showing someone urinating on Barack Obama

Sticky Obama issue with these McKains leads to arrest
Sugar Land police say a woman confronted a couple who had a bumper sticker showing someone urinating on candidate's name

SUGAR LAND — In case their Plantation Bend neighbors had any questions about how Doug and Wendy McKain feel about Barack Obama, the bumper sticker on their pickup could be a clue. But when Chynethia Gragg spotted the sticker — depicting someone urinating on the name "Obama" — Sugar Land police say, she stopped to express her disapproval, and that's when things got ugly.

Gragg, 35, has been charged with making a terroristic threat after confronting the McKains, telling them the sticker was racist, police said. Gragg declined to comment, and her attorney, Roy Smith, said he would have to review the police report and talk with his client before commenting. Doug McKain declined to comment.

According to court documents, police officer H. Norris went to the couple's house about 3 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a verbal disturbance. Court documents said Gragg told Norris she saw the sticker on the back of a pickup and stopped in front of the McKain house. She told Norris she confronted McKain about the sticker, saying it was racist.

McKain told the officer he and his wife were driving home when they noticed a female motorist looking closely at his truck. The couple drove home then pulled into their driveway. "Mr. McKain said shortly later the same person (Ms. Gragg) pulled up to his residence (blocking his driveway behind his truck.) Mr. McKain said Ms. Gragg began to rant and rave about the sticker on the back of his truck," the court document states.

I'll have to disagree with Ms. Gragg. That is not a racist bumper sticker. I wouldn't drive around with that type of bumper sticker whether it's Bush or anyone else but that's just me.

3. One must wonder though...if they would have the nerve to ride around with that sticker if Obama was
Caucasian..
While she may have been going to an extreme, I can understand Ms. Gragg's reaction and give her credit for the confrontation, which I sure would not have had the nerve to do.

Can you imagine the right wing reaction if the name on that bumper sticker was McCain or Bush. The local Repuke probably would have just taken a rifle shot thru the window.

16. Errrrrr like all the ones of the boy pissing on Bush that I have seen?
She had a fit over someone else's choice in politics, followed them, went onto their property, caused a scene and threatened them.

Now what if a repuke went after one of us that way? Would you be patting them on the back?

20. Indeed. What ISN'T the little boy pissing on?
I've seen many, many stickers with him pissing on things, and I've never seen one with the name Obama being pissed on. I've seen a lot of them with "Bush" being pissed on.

I've never felt so much as an urge to express my displeasure to the driver of such vehicles, no matter what their message. It's a bumper sticker! It's an expression of one person's opinion on their car. My right is to put what I want on my car, not to lecture them on their choices, at their home, after following them there.

2. Oh yeah, Calvin peeing bumper stickers, now THAT is making a statement!
That you are classless white trash, that is.

Seriously, if you want an anti-Obama sticker, fine. But at least come up with something remotely creative. By now, Calvin has peed on EVERYTHING, so there's no statement left to be made there.

In case you're wondering, that's General U.S. Grant.

But I also made these:

And I wore one of those on a hat for a week in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

4. How was Gragg's response
a terrorist threat?

Good grief, what do people expect? If you drive around with an offensive bumper sticker you have to expect to get confronted on it eventually.

6. Police routinely overcharge people. It's become even more popular since stupid...
...laws such as all these "anti-terrorism" laws made
it easier. That doesn't mean that such overcharging is
ever actually prosecuted nor made to "stick".

18. Terroristic threat has nothing to do with the current "terrorism"
It is a term that predates 9/11.

21. TERRORISTIC THREAT - under Texas law
A terroristic threat is a crime generally involving a threat to commit violence communicated with the intent to terrorize another, to cause evacuation of a building, or to cause serious public inconvenience, in reckless disregard of the risk of causing such terror or inconvenience. It may mean an offense against property or involving danger to another person that may include but is not limited to recklessly endangering another person, harassment, stalking, ethnic intimidation, and criminal mischief.

The following is an example of a Texas statute dealing with terroristic threats:

TERRORISTIC THREAT
(a) A person commits an offense if he threatens to commit any offense involving violence to any person or property with intent to:
1. cause a reaction of any type to his threat by an official or volunteer agency organized to deal with emergencies;
2. place any person in fear of imminent serious bodily injury;
3. prevent or interrupt the occupation or use of a building; room; place of assembly; place to which the public has access; place of employment or occupation; aircraft, automobile, or other form of conveyance; or other public place;
4. cause impairment or interruption of public communications, public transportation, public water, gas, or power supply or other public service;
5. place the public or a substantial group of the public in fear of serious bodily injury; or
6. influence the conduct or activities of a branch or agency of the federal government, the state, or a political subdivision of the state.

5. McKain versus Obama. Priceless.
And what is a "terroristic threat."

I'm gonna come blow your house up?
I'll water board you?

What the hell kind of law is it that you can be charged with making a terroristic threat?

1. Texas is a concealed carry state. This incident could have turned tragic

2. We have freedom of speech, whether we agree with it or not

3. It wasn't racist; obnoxious, yes...but not racist

4. If Obama wins the presidency, expect to see stuff worse than that...
