Has a candidate ever won just from attacking the other guy?

This just today..another sign of desperation possibly, or is it just the way McCain wants to run his campaign? A campaign of just attacking Obama.

We are just seeing the beginning folks. The real shit flinging will start in the next month with new documentaries and books and such out that portray Obama has a radical. We are going to see another Rovian campaign. In my opinion, Obama knows this and is preparing to strike back. He must. There can be no doubt now that McCain wants to run a really disrespectful and mean campaign. This is just the beginning.

1. They've got nothing. McCain can't run on just being McCain, and the Suurrge, like he was planning.
He thought that would be enough--biography and one military tactic. Ooops. Turns out, people might want more.

blames the media for their misfortune. They are also generally the ones who call for debates.

The problem is that the M$M loves McSame so much that they repeat favorable memes about him. Doing so sunk Gore and Kerry's campaign. The M$M loves the Corporate Right Wing and they've been peddling wingnut propaganda and talking points for years!

3. Hillary ran that way and lost.
Hillary eventually had nothing to offer other than Obama sucks. It didn't work for her. McCain is going to need something to offer. Right now it seems that it's more war for a nation of whiners.

4. "Negative enthusiasm"
was the strategy proposed by some bow-tied idiot on F** News.

The idea is that McCain's supporters can never match the numbers and enthusiasm of Obama's supporters so he has to make the Repub base enthusiastic about voting against Obama.

5. Yes Bush I ran against Dukakis that way with Willy Horton and all the rest.
Of course Dukakis was nowhere near as attractive or capable a candidate than Obama.

8. That's exactly how every Republican wins. Reagan, both Bushes...
Negative works better than positive in a normal election, but when things are in a handbasket heading underground, the rulse change.

Grab the lap bar and hang on, it's gonna get funky.

9. Do the Republicans ever do much differently?
I mean, I knew several Republicans who swore they were going to vote Kerry in the summer of 2004.

However, they later admitted voting Bush as the lesser of two evils because Rove and the media had so successfully demonized Kerry.

10. I had to laugh ... a few months back, a RW radio station in Cleveland pointed out that Hillary was
desperate ... the RW host's proof? The fact that Hillary called for several debates with Obama - the RWer was saying that, when one candidate is losing ground rapidly, they pull that stunt to boost their image.

So, McSameAsBush called for a series of townhall debates ... and he called for Obama to visit the Middle East (with him, of course, so he could get the exposure) ...

shades of the RWer's statement about the desperation of a losing candidate ...

But, I forget ... the "liberal media" has yet to focus on McCain's campaign ... he was whining about that ... I'm sure that Obama will do something which is 99.9999999999 percent insignificant for any other person on Earth, but the "liberal media" will focus on as the key to his downfall ...
