Olbermann: Rood Story Took A Lot Of Guts
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5445086/

You don't need me to tell you that Chicago Tribune's stories of and by its metro editor Bill Rood, confirming John Kerry's version of the events in Vietnam of February 28, 1969, are impactful(subscription only, but free). Rood's words barely hide his anger -- not on Kerry's behalf, but rather on behalf of his Swift Boat Veterans who've been sideswiped by the attacks against Kerry; those who have been branded as accessories after the fact to Kerry's alleged resume padding.

But the back-story is more amazing still, and not only puts a dent in the unseemly "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" but, in a completely backhanded way, takes an unexpected chunk out of the urban legend that the media is under the heel of the evil Argus-Eyed Liberal Scheme. Read on -- what the Trib's doing suggests quite the opposite.

a great read...and now makes Kerry's case for his medals and service unimpeachable. Rood is doing Edward R. Murrow proud. So is Olbermann.

Cheers!

4. According to the Countdown homepage. . .
He's going to have his own Blog page soon. He's a brilliant writer. The more I see him the more I want to marry him and have his children. Or adopt him or you know. . . something. I'm ready to start the KO fan club--that much is sure!

8. Nope--not married.
Interestingly, he dated Rebecca Lobo--for awhile. Guess he likes really tall women--that alone would rule me out, I'm 5'3"!

7. Who would have thought...
A former sportscaster would show up most of the mainstream reporters?

10. Okay--at the risk of sounding like an Olbermann stalker. . .
Through the powers of Google, this is what I've learned: Born in NYC, raised in Westchester. Skipped a year of school and graduated the Hackley prep school at age 16 (other graduates include Chris Berman from ESPN and Joe Klein). From there it was on to Cornell. He's been a published author since he was a teen(a book about baseball coaches) and also wrote the histories for baseball cards. Right out of college, at age 20, he was hired by the UPI as a sports reporter and went on to work at RKO, WNEW (in New York) and CNN. At 26, he was anchoring the sports news at KTLA in Los Angeles. I worked in TV myself for about 10 years, and I can't begin to tell you what a big deal it was that he was working in the number two television market in the country at that age as an anchor. He's also worked for KCBS, ESPN, MSNBC (the first time), Fox Sports, ABC Radio, and now MSNBC (again).

Very impressive resume I must say. Oddly, I've known at least two sports anchors in my day who eventually left sports and became news anchors and damn good ones at that. When you've the chops, and know how to report and don't mind actually doing the hard work and asking the tough questions--you can handle anything-be it sports or news or whatever. Keith has a long history of ticking off management at stations and networks wherever he's gone--he insists on standing up for what he believes is right and refuses to kiss corporate ass. Guess that's why we DU'ers love him. And honestly, I swear I am not stalking him!

12. Olbermann is Awesome
He has been my favorite newscaster since he came on the air with Countdown. Next is Aaron Brown. I think Dems get a fair break with both of them. Also both are great to look at. :)
