My 77 Year old friend said "That's the Next President"
We invited him to come in out of the hot hot air outside, he needed my husband to take a look at his computer.... As he took a seat in my humble single wide abode, he noticed the TV was on, kinda low, but Obama's face was on. "That's going to be the next President, ya know." I said, "ya think?" He said, "Well, yeah, isn't it obvious?"
I said, "well, are YOU voting for him?" He said, "yeah, this time around I sure as hell am, because there's already one dumbass in the Oval Office, and everyone that I talk to KNOWS that McCain is just ANOTHER dumbass. " (I found out he almost never even VOTES! He has been so disillusioned by so many politicians..He said he was voting this time for DAMN sure,..)

LOL...we never talked politics before, but it sure was nice to hear it from an opinionated, albeit sweet, 'old timer'.

Hearing it from a lifelong Texan, was music to my ears!

1. Shake his hand for me
and tell him he's a mighty smart Texan, and that my native born Texan husband agrees with him!

4. to be fair
My husband does cars and computers for a living, and my semi retired friend does keys and locks. We scratch each other's backs often. :D

11. That's the way it SHOULD be and, as far as I'm concerned, that qualifies you
for beatification, at least.

I get kind of down sometimes, your story really cheered me up.

5. I get that a lot when I'm out registering voters.
It's as if it's a foregone conclusion. Basically we're just counting down the days.

6. my elderly neighbor who is a republican and a marine widow
just laughs and says "no one thinks McCain can actually win"

I have gotten that a lot.

Yet to get somebody that actually thinks he has a chance.

not a literal freeper per se but it's like seeing one in the flesh...
you switch from very angry to trying not to laugh your ass off many times in the same conversation when listening to them...

14. I'm in Texas too TexasLady.
I am amazed that when I go to the store, older people are the ones that stop to just talk to me about politics. Every one I have talked to says they're voting for Obama. It warms my heart! I'm talking people in the 70's and 80's too!!
