Rasmussen: Obama up by 9 in Oregon

In Oregon, Barack Obama leads John McCain 46% to 37%, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey. These results are virtually identical to those from a month ago. When “leaners” are included, it’s Obama 49%, McCain 40%.

3. Kerry won it by about 4% in '04 and Gore won by less than 1% in '00

so it's a swing state and another swing state he's doing well in, so far.

4. Oregon is a strange "swing" state

At first glance, Oregon looks like your typical swing state. But as fivethirtyeight.com pointed out a few weeks ago, it's a very partisan divide. The Dems are more liberal than Dems in just about any state, and the Repubs are more conservative than almost any other state. Thus there aren't a lot of classic swing voters per se.
Having said that, the state GOP here is in shambles, and the Dems are ascendent. Obama will carry Oregon easily.
