Putting pressure on congressional Democrats to back more exploration for oil, President Bush on Monday lifted an executive ban on offshore drilling that his stood since his father was president. "The only thing standing between the American people and these vast oil resources is action from the U.S. Congress," Bush said in a statement in the Rose Garden. "Now the ball is squarely in Congress' court."
Yes Bush is running for re-election even if he can't serve the term. The only thing he knows how to do is run for office. He's spent 8 years of divisive politics in an effort to stick it to Democrats running for office. So what a shock the whole point of offshore drilling isn't to decrease our dependence on foreign oil, to increase national security, to decrease prices, to help the tumbling economy... nope it's to create another fake issue before November. This is gay marriage, capping malpractice all over again. Now if the Dems bite and generate a vote for this they potentially make Obama look bad, if they vote against this it they create a fake "Dems aren't pro-America energy" B.S. story. Bush never one to actually do something because it's in the best interest of Americans, but always quick to make up a controversy if he thinks it polls well for him.
